A drama without an hysterical female lead?

Thank you, it’s available in my country so I have added it to my list

I’ll give the Bride of the Watergod a try when I have (more) time again xD (list full with fantasy/historical C dramas and in the end of 2019/2020 they will release some more and some have …90 episodes OMG) plus the sequel for Eternal Love (peach blossoms, the one that plays the female lead in King’s Woman plays the female lead then too).

Zhang Bin Bin you like him too  Then you should watch Eternal Love (three lives, tree worlds, peach blossoms thousand miles). Later he has more episodes, at the beginning he has less since he plays a support character there (also evil king later  suits him well, also the red/black robes :smiling_imp:). I’m not sure how it is named in your country. For me it is titled Eternal Love (also on netflix) but there is another drama that is also called Eternal Love that has nothing to do with it (I once watched a clip on youtube called Eternal Love 2 … and the scenes were so annoying that I was shocked and thought hopefully just wrong tagged if the sequel is so bad* I can’t watch it (*super annoying characters even in short scene, was a scene with what you mentioned before with girl got kissed and looks shocked and male behaves strange too).

Nonononononono! That drama sucked big time!

Yeah, who doesn’t like Zhang Bin Bin?? swoon I did read about Eternal Love but it didn’t really interest me.
I have my Viki account in english so what ever english name you see I see. I did see a drama called The Eternal Love - and yes, it has a annoying female lead, and I didn’t really like the ending so I haven’t watched The Eternal Love 2.

I thought it was cute. Joo-Hyuk Nam plays the WaterGod and in his realm he was gorgeous with the hair, makeup and clothes. In this drama his sidekick was the annoying one lol

The Water God is one of the best made drama I’ve seen. The guy is awesome and the leading girl, too.

I think you watched another one then.

I mean this one:

https://www.viki.com/tv/36372c-eternal-love

and the female lead was strong (second season is not released yet).

The series with - sometimes - same name is this and has 2 seasons:

https://www.viki.com/tv/36217c-the-eternal-love-2

Pictures look quite similar so it’s easy to mistake both.

If the Water God has nice costumes I’ll take a look  In the manwha the costumes are so nicely drawn.

Yes, I finally got to see the Korean version of.Water God and loved that drama

. I saw Ashes of Love (chinese) and that one was really good, too.

I Will Never Let You Go does have a silly main female lead in the beginning, but towards the middle and end, because the story gets a bit heavier, she kinda loses her springiness. I was sorely disappointed at the ending, and I’m usually easy to please when it comes to dramas and drama endings. I felt that the show had some promise, but I don’t think the writers wrote a good ending. Zhang Bin Bin is great (as usual) in this drama. I don’t know, watching IWNLYG is up to you. There is humor in the story though. My fav parts have to be with the dog, however. The dog was amazing

No, no mistake. I saw THE eternal love - the first series. But I didn’t like it enough to see THE eternal love 2. And Eternal Love with Zhang BinBin I didn’t see because it didn’t interest me.

I only saw the Korean version. We’ll see if I see the chinese - I think I rather watch a new story.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, after seeing previews it does look it has a classic silly female lead. But I will check it out anyway for Zhang Bin Bin and hope she’s not over the top. But it’s a pretty bad sign though when a dog is best part of a drama lol

Did they really make a Chinese remake of the KR TV show or manwha? I only found the KR version.

Better watch the Eternal love with him that didn’t sound interesting then

It’s similar to historic dramas just compared with fantasy too (or just skip the episodes without him and watch only Bin Bin episodes :smiling_imp: )

Or maybe there will be new series with him in 2019/2020. I didn’t check it for Bin Bin yet but for my fav male actor are several series in the release process in end of 2019/2020 (and the good part is, the storys/genres are some I like).

BTW @ those who have watched Bloody Romance

What do you think about Chang An & the actor who played him?

NIRVANA IN FIRE 2 Lin Xi is my favorite female drama character because she is calm, intelligent and serious, is a good friend and confidant to the male lead, Ping Jing.

We’ll see. If I run out of other options perhaps lol

I read that some people were surprised that he got the leading role. When I first reviewed the cast and saw this (for me unknown) actor I was sceptical too. But it changed in the very first episode and I really liked him and understand why they choose him.

I need to add this: I love dramas with hysterical female leads as long as is the girl from Kill me, Heal me and Secret Love (SK) bc her role are mainly funny, and at some point she does goes into SERIOUS mode.
Also the one from The mermaid with that cute guy LMH. They are 2 actress that the role matches their personality.

But I feel the one to blame here are the writers who give that role to be played in the drama and they have no choice but to go along with that type of character.

I refuse to watch anymore scenes where they get DRUNK and Aggressive I always push the SKIP< SKIP button to see the rest of the drama.

Seems I was kinda lucky so far with the dramas I watched = no hysterical girls, but maybe that’s because I tend to not watching dramedy, comedy & romance stuff since that used to have silly females.

The maybe hysterical female in a drama I watched and liked was in this one:

It’s so funny and her over-re-acting suits to the story. (It is also good to chill after heavy & sad storylines in other dramas  )

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I swear to you I have watched this drama over 5 times! It’s to me the most funny and wonderful drama I have seen in a while. It’s hysterically funny and ROMANTIC.

The actor/ actress were made for each other, both are so in tune with their roles. As a matter of fact, I’m watching again today (NTFL*) The part I can watch over and over again where she has to dance and wears that ridiculous mask. That was hilarious. The other part when they are flying the kite and kiss. The kiss look very real so it adds a lot to the already great drama.
.

I loved Chang An and the actor who played him. Wish they’d gone all out and had them together more (physically I mean). As much torture and sadism there was in BR, there could have been a lot more physical contact too.

I can’t say for sure in the first episodes there is no upsets but overall I like the women’s characters in these dramas and find them more deep and more endearing and thoughtful. In Falling For Innocence there may be some silliness at the beginning but I think pretty quickly the main character calms down and she is very intelligent. Heaven’s Garden is a favorite of mine but it’s definitely not a typical S. Korean drama. Dalja’s Spring I found very sweet. Jewel in the Palace - I just love that drama. Saimdang, Light’s Diary was pretty interesting to me (same actress as Jewel in the Palace - she is AWESOME) and it has part of it in the past and part in the present and is about a real artist from long ago. Both Jewel in the Palace and Saimdang have a woman who faces a lot of adversity and needs to overcome a lot and use her intelligence. I think I prefer more low key K dramas in general. If the female was hysterical the whole time I would find it tiresome. I did like Kill Me Heal Me but I couldn’t watch it again, it was just too upsetting for me. The acting was very good though from both the female and male lead.

Yes, ofcourse - the actor is just doing his/her job when portraying the character.
And I don’t mind a silly female if she grows and leave the childish behaviour behind.

I too liked Chang An and it was clear that there was more to him than just being a Shadow. And I would have liked to see a little more physical interaction since they were so in love. And a happier ending for sure :disappointed:

Thank you for the suggestions - I will check them out and hope that they are available at my location (Sweden)

I like timetravel dramas and the female lead was not over the top but I was not able to find it here on Viki. :frowning: bummer
