Um, Parker-Seongsaengnim . . . as someone whose ancestors had to evolve and adapt to cold northern climates . . . and thus has those light-color eyes that crazy Alaskan sled dogs have . . . and whose severe lack of melanin is the result of hundreds of generations of people managing to survive on Vitamin D3 created in their bodies by two minutes of sunshine a year . . .
I have to say that Um Mun Suk is not a vampire at age 38 . . . he is Korean, and he does eat what I consider a truly health-supporting food, i.e., kimchi.
Now, Dick Clark . . . has anybody considered that he MAY have been a vampire?
I know George Hamilton was . . . and he WORKED on his tan!
After I posted this I wondered exactly how many people would even know who Dick Clark was , And for Mr. Hamilton , yes , you can tell he worked on his tan as he kept the color and it looked natural I heard at one time he lived in my hometown of Memphis , if so he was able to get plenty of sunshine and humidity to seal it in
Dear, then why not write a PM, but openly write here for everyone to see, you could at least have the text blurred, so it would be easier for others to overlook it.
I believe the point I was attempting to make was missed; I have indeed seen some things in dramas that as a black person I have found offensive, but I saw the character portrayed to be much like the one Tropic Thunder where Robert Downey Jr was an actor that fell too deep in his role, and the joke was on the actor , not so much as a parody of a personās race. The character Dil Sak in rookie very much appears ( to me , and itās just my opinion ) a more āwhat the hell is wrong with this guy ?ā than anything and his dirty appearance is the fact that he is , in fact dirty
In many cases of Asian media, they miss point of where it could be deemed offensive, and they are gradually getting better, but Rookie threw a match in gasoline on a lot of points for drama viewers ā¦
I understand your Jamaican Koreaboo reference , the flies are a bit over the top , but there is a lot of over the top hereā¦
What I saw was the denigration of the character himself, not a reference.
I also understand your all caps reference, and honestly could not find the words ( enough of them anyway ) to let you know that I clearly understand what you are saying. Let me say it again, I get what you are saying, ā¦I just saw it different as I saw him as more or less like the character in Tropic Thunder.
I still have my card , apologize if my words were not clear and offended you , and hope that we can have future dialog here.
You put a like on my reply , but I donāt know if the āFine. Thank youā was meant for me, being married 26+ years , the response āFine.ā means I put my other foot in my mouth ā¦Did I do that ?
I really do admire those in the Viki community who are willing to try and communicate well and respectfully despite . . . having a discussion board structure that makes:
Public conversations challenging, private conversations challenging, following threads challenging, giving likes challenging, carrying on long conversations challenging, making suggestions for improvement challenging . . .
And yet those conversations continue and are productive.
You mean the way āpeople argue with postsā in The Devil Judge?
And yet people manage not to display any of the āBamboo Spear Factor.ā
Thatās also known as the the dreaded BS Factor, on the basis of which @kdrama2020ali will NEVER admit anyone to the Hottie Posse University, the Cutie Factor University, or even inside the local convenience store in the smallest fishing village on Jeju Island.
And let me tell you, though Devil Judge has not varied a whit from any of its inherent tropes, and though I am more than ready for the ending (because I am so exhausted from following the plot reversals and twists), if we can attract Viki fans as passionate about good discussion as the Devil Judge characters are about justice . . . wow, Viki will have to start paying somebody in the community for doing really good public relations work.
But not in bitcoin. Never. Itās vouchers for free cup noodles or nothing!
Which is why I never shy from asking the hard questions. Sure, the downside is that Iām not very popular around here. But you all continue to be nice to me. So I always appreciate that.
Itās actually really, really simple. Just click on the personās username and the blue āMessageā button automatically pops up!^^
Following threads happens automatically and you can easily do it manually.
I actually think this board structure is very convenient for the purpose itās servingā¦This is mainly for discussions and I find it easier on the eyes/more flexible to navigate than sites like Quora or Reddit. An additional perk is NO ADS! Another additional perk is that everyone is usually civil and knows how to behave. There are also less users than other popular sites.
If I could search for keywords like I do here (with a simple āCtrl + Fā) on all my social media, that would be a total BLESSING!! If everyone keeps to the topic, I think this is a very straightforward, easy-to-use board.
It seems I really take things for granted. I am not only using Discourse on Viki but also on several other sites and I never ever noticed there are no ads in the interface!!!
I am unfortunately a very visual person. When I worked for the City of Rochester, NY, I was for several years part of the group tasked with helping make the City website more user-friendly. The goal, based on best practices (and this was in 2010 or so) was to make it possible for āexternalā users to get from the home page to where they wanted to be in three clicks.
Any website, however complicated, can be learned if a person has a set of detailed instructions and lots of time. But when people are new, eager to explore, and constantly frustrated in trying to find and keep track of simple things, there is little incentive to keep at it.
But I am definitely a kinesthetic learner. I learn more by doing and trying than I do by sitting and reading. It is clear that the people who designed the Discussion Board are not kinesthetic learners.
Your comment is timely however, since I would appreciate anyone messaging me who can provide the names of the main and secondary characters (not actors) in Devil Judge. I am interested in the meaning of the names in relation to ALL the symbolic stuff that is going on in that drama.
Okey Dokey, I guess I have to add Devil Judge to my already ( when will you find the time ? ) watchlist , but my PR work would need to be paid in Pork Belly as opposed to cup noodles, I am diabetic and canāt deal with the carbs, every slurp I hear of noodles reminds me of what is verbotten ā¦
I would urge you to check out the work of Canadian nephrologist Jason Fung and his discovery of something called intermittent fasting.
Ten years ago, I weighed 220 pounds at 5ā10". My primary care physician nagged me constantly about weight and blood pressure. I had a really stressful job and never ate until I got home from a long, exhausting day, sometimes right before I went to bed at 10 (knowing I had to get up at 5).
I lived on coffee, candy bars, potato chips, cola, and pizza. With the occasional salad bowl thrown in.
When I suffered the kidney stone from Hell (are they not all?) and survived, I started a gym membership, started taking vitamins, followed a dieticianās advice and swapped out heavy carbs for lighter substitutes (zoodles are cool), and lost ten pounds. I started walking to work from home.
Five years ago, I started reading about Jason Fung, a Chinese-Canadian nephrologist who does a lot of work with diabetic patients with kidney issues. Thanks to following his scientfically supported guidelines, I am now down to 179.
Iāve had ups and downs, and people sometimes wonder why it has taken āso longā for me to get to where I am. The constant refrain I keep hearing from the intermittent fasting group I am part of (on Facebook) is that the body needs to heal itself from years of abuse first before weight starts to really come off.
But FWIW . . . check Dr. Fung out. YouTube has a lot of his stuff.
Is this why I canāt write a review for this drama or post any comments because the drama is controversial and offensive to viewers, hence they filter all comments?
May be I am used to politically incorrect comedies such as American Pie. I enjoyed the drama because of the mom, she was hilarious.
