Did We Work Together on Viki? I Need Your Help (Urgent)

Hello everyone,

My name is Keya, and I am reaching out with a sincere request for help from the Viki community.

I am currently in the final stages of the hiring process for a Korean Translator position with Inteva. As part of the verification process, I have been asked to provide references who can vouch for my work and experience on Viki.

Unfortunately, because Viki volunteer work is not traditional employment, I do not have payslips, offer letters, or formal experience certificates. I have reached out to Viki support and several former team members, but I am still looking for additional references from people who may have worked with me or know of my contributions. I do not have the luxury of time now.

I have worked on a variety of projects as a Korean-English subtitler, Korean captioner, and Korean moderator, including:

• Voice 4
• Mouse
• Love Revolution
• A-Teen
• You Raise Me Up
• Next Door Witch J
• Be My Boyfriend
• You Make Me Dance
• Midnight Romance in Hagwon
• How To Be Thirty
• The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract
• Pale Moon

I also served as a Korean Moderator on Next Door Witch J and Be My Boyfriend, where I helped complete Korean subtitles, reviewed subtitle quality, coordinated contributors, and managed the project.

Korean language learning has been a major part of my life since 2020, and this opportunity would allow me to finally transition into a career in the language field. It is something I have worked toward for years.

If you worked with me on any of these projects, know someone who did, or would be willing to speak about my contributions and work ethic, I would be incredibly grateful. Even a brief professional reference could make a significant difference.

Please feel free to DM me if you are willing to help, and are open to sharing whatever professional contact information (e-mail, linkedin etc) you are comfortable with.

Thank you very much for your time, and a big thank you to everyone who helped make these projects possible. The Viki community played a huge role in my Korean language journey, and I will always be grateful for that.

Things are looking up.

Viki has kindly agreed to provide me with a certificate documenting my contributions as a volunteer subtitle translator, and one of my dearest fellow translators from my time in the community has generously agreed to serve as a reference for me.

When I first started reaching out, I honestly wasn’t sure what would come of it. But once again, the Viki community reminded me why it has always meant so much to me. People I worked alongside years ago took the time to respond, offer encouragement, and help however they could.

It’s easy to call people on the internet “strangers,” but moments like these remind me that communities built around shared passions can create real connections that last long after the projects are finished.

Thank you to Viki, to the translators who reached out, and to everyone who offered advice and support. I’m incredibly grateful.

Here’s hoping this helps open the door to new opportunities. :crossed_fingers:

And as always: internet strangers really do pull through.
