Object: Love
Hello,
I’ve been wondering while watching dramas if the love they portray in dramas is the love that screenwriters experienced themselves or what Asian (Korean, Chinese people etc.) experience in Asia. Or is it women’s fantasies only? Where’s the boundary between fiction and reality?
Is it true? Is it a cultural thing? Is it a dream?
Is there some truth?
And if by showing this to girls, adolescents, women, people can get confused with reality (or deceived or disappointed)? Have you felt that?
I know that love is subjectivity and everyone experiences it differently, but I feel a big gap between reality and what I watch in dramas. I don’t recognize it or feel some landmarks. Is there something wrong with my vision of love / my experience of love? Or what is love??
When feeling this big gap, I’m wondering if a young girl watching this won’t be fooled (or have too much hope) and think that “this is what you should experience when you date someone, love someone”, “this is the norm” and mix up reality/fantasy. Can dramas change people’s mind (here about love and relationships / their relationships)? Can dramas change ourselves? Can dramas be a way to integrate/build social norms (maybe not for adults but for youngsters)?
