Mail from Viki - research exercise?

Did you also get an email like that? Do you know what do they need this for, why a video, why asking about community, is it a marketing campain or something?

(For those, who didn’t get it or haven’t seen it yet:
“Hi there!
Thanks for being a contributor on Viki, and helping to spread the joy of Asian entertainment around the world!
We were wondering if you would like to join our research exercise? We’d love to hear your thoughts on the contributor community.
If you’re keen, we’ll send you some questions about the community by email. In response, you’ll record short videos of your thoughts. In exchange for 15mins of your time, we would like to offer you a US$15 gift voucher!
Your inputs will help us improve the contributor community and is greatly appreciated by team Viki.
Help us out? :blue_heart:”)

The mullah part, sheesh! Kind of low isn’t it? If they are sending this type of mail to contributers, offer a :airplane::kr: trip to South Korea, or any popular drama destination, not $15US :pensive:
Other destinations:
:jp: Japan
:cn: China
:thailand:Thailand

Yeah, I was like, “Oh cool!” and then read the part that said, make a video… um no thanks! :grimacing:

Oof that was exactly my reaction too.

Plus… “for 15 minutes of your time/ 15$ voucher” makes it sound quirky and fun, but if we’re filming 15 minutes of video…? Even supposing it’s 15 minutes and not more, that’s without accounting for stuff like, planning our responses, number of takes and upload. Idk if it’s just a me problem… but I feel a little patronized considering the prior “success” rates of community surveys.
Also… what do they get from this that we haven’t given in surveys? If someone accepts the offer, I would be very interested in hearing if it was a marketing stunt after all or not. Just out of curiosity…
