I hate to be that person asking the same dumb old question, but I’ve been unable to find a straight answer so here goes…
Do QC no longer bypass the geo-lock?
I’ve been a Gold QC for quite a while now, and imagine my surprise when today I logged in after a while (but QC still active) and it said some dramas were restricted in my area. I thought it was just my app, so I tried my laptop and same story.
I really just want to know if that’s how it is (sucky but moving on) or if I should contact support about it.
If the license for a channel is to a specific region and the license did not include QC’s worldwide, sadly you cannot readily access the videos. This has been true for several years.
Exactly. In the past, being a QC bypassed geo-locks in most dramas, but not all. Maybe you didn’t happen to try watching one of those that weren’t available to QCs, that’s why you hadn’t noticed it until now.
Recently (in the past one year, let’s say? and especially since the Kocowa disaster) they have become significantly less, so it’s “bypasses geo-locks in some dramas”. Still quite a few, I must say.
