I just wanted to thank all you Subbers!!! I am envious that you all are at least two language proficient and volunteer your time to make us one language folks happy! Appreciate your time and effort.

Agreed with you. Subbing helps me to exercise the usage of the languages that I know so that I won’t forgot how to use them
And it is quite addictive. I quite enjoy myself subbing for dramas eventhough the language that I’m subbing the drama into doesn’t have many audience, but I still love doing it.

We subbers and volunteers love “candies” of appreciation very much. We work hard, we learn a ton, we collaborate with teams, we meet new people, we make friends, learn about other cultures and respect each other. Simply said, we are a Viki Family
It makes us happy to make viewers happy. Being multilingual has its challenges and I realize when subbing text that the script becomes much more clearer.I sub in German to keep my knowledge refreshed. I admire that Viki is available in so many global languages, it brings people more together, it’s not just watching a drama <3

However, even one-language people can be very helpful in captioning. Deaf people will thank you, and so will subtitlers who will see their work become much easier if they have the written text instead of only relying on their ears.

I also enjoy captioning. Actually for those who want to learn the language, it can help you improve your listening skill. I believe a person is really fluent in a language when they can listen and speak with ease.

I was wondering where the best place to say thank you was so I searched and found your old post. I’d like to add my thanks to all the subbers too. I’ve watched things on YouTube that didn’t have English subtitles yet, and I’ve also watched Netflix with subtitles but you can tell they are not great, and then I found Vicki and you guys do an amazing job. I really, really appreciate it. I’m not sure how long it will take me to learn Mandarin Chinese, but while I’m still only fluent in English, I’ll keep looking for any errors and letting the editor know as I watch C-dramas. Thank you for making these great shows accessible to others.

I’ve had two years of German but that was long ago and far away but this community gives me the impetus to brush up on the languages I’ve started to learn as well as work on learning Chinese.
