Updating profie & account

I have been trying to upgrade my information but I get a prompt saying my email isnot valad. but I have been using it since I came on here.

also I have not had a problem watching Viki until this week and it started showing the teary face saying I have an adblocker, and to join Viki. as far as I know this hasn’t happened to me.so what is the problem?
I really enjoy the shows and all. just hate to stop watching here on Viki!

any help is appreciated.

When you get a message to verify your email, first make sure the email that is associated with viki account is valid and you can receive emails there, if not change the email in your viki account settings. After if you get the verify email, click on that and viki will send an email to your email address for example @gmail. Then you go to your email box for example @gmail and look for that email from viki, check your spam folder perhaps it’s there. Then when you open the email from viki follow the steps and click on I think it’s says “verify”, and then you are all set. This is to prevent people with fake email addresses.

About adblock that I don’t know.

what browser are you using, have you tried Opera or chrome, if you have VikiPass you can watch without commercials and have access to exlusives.

Unless you want to take up volunteering at Viki, if you are fluent in a foreign language you could write subtitles or you could take up segmenting but that’s perhaps too hard.
If you have 3,000 subs you become a QC that would give you free access to VikiPass and some region restricted shows viewing.

I am not fluent in any language except English of course. thanks anyway, oh and I plan to give Viki pass a chance as well.

@simi11 but she is fluent in english she can “transliterate” of dramas that have hard-subs because in Spanish we go much English and if more people transcribe English for us to get better than it does a native person.
is the case of this https://www.viki.com/tv/29619c-que-sera-sera, and guess that more.

you are right, I completely left that out, you mean transcribing English hard-subs. I did that recently, the trick is that while you write the subs in the editor, it covers the hard-subs on the screen or if it’s re-segmented the text doesn’t stay on the screen while you are writing; perhaps I thought this might be too difficult for her.

I didn’t know you needed for that drama transcribing hard-subs, I saw this drama few months ago

Yes, that is a problem. You have to remember them by heart, and it’s easy to make a mistake. I accidentally found that if you write the subtitles in Segment Timer instead of Subtitle Editor they stay. A bit grayed out and small, but clearly visible nevertheless.

i want see in spanish but i believe that firts i can see in english that spanish.

Why do we need to sub the hard-subs?

The trick is to copy the hardsubs when in the Segment Timer. They don’t disappear there, just fade a little.

  1. Because sometimes they are not good.
  2. Because sometimes the segmenting is different, for instance a sentence is split into two segments, or the opposite.
  3. Because it’s easier for the other language translators to see it over their own translation, and maybe copy paste the formatting as we often do.
  4. Because if you don’t do it, the series will appear as non-subtitled in English and viewers won’t know that there are subtitles, and won’t go see it.

Well, it is not an official explanation, it’s just my own feeling about it, so don’t take it as scripture, LOL!
