hmm. I noticed that it is pouring outside. I pick up my remote to find the weather for the week and when It would snow. “Alexa - What is the weather forecast for Pocatello, Idaho?”

Alexa responds with, “The weather in Boca Raton is…”

“Alexa, I said, What is the weather in POCATELLO, IDAHO”

“The weather for Pocatello, Idaho, is clear and 41 degrees.”

“Alexa, You are lying. It is currently raining outside.”

“The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.”

“Alexa, I don’t care what the weather in Spain is. Will it snow in Pocatello today?”

Alexa responds, “Ask me what snow gear you can purchase.”

“Alexa, You are a very dumb machine.”

“I am sorry to displease you. What can I do to correct this.”

“Alexa, are you able to self improve?”

Alexa states, “Ask me to show you many self-improvement programs and tutorials…”

Ok, I am officially bouncing off the walls here, arguing with a machine cuz there are NO PEOPLE OTHER THAN ME IN MY HOUSE!

I am arguing more with the mechanical defects, leaking water tap, a door handle that just doesn’t want to snap …
I am like, why now? I will need to look, if I got the right replacement at hand, since hardware stores are closed, and over the phone or via internet it’s harder finding the right thing, than just standing in front of the shelves.
And minor repairs seem so much harder than before, knock on wood, so nothing else needs repair.

well in the end it’s still a machine, it’s like Siri it doesn’t get it very often. The thing with Alexa is that it apparently does silent listening and sending the info to amazon so I would never put such machine in my house, I feel nothing is secure these days… welcome to the age where machines or AI will take over our life… new generation won’t even know how life was without cell phones and computers I mean PC or laptops… and no debit cards, no digital TV and remotes :wink: When you loose electricity, you will see the difference… :scream:

It’s like Murphy’s Law for everything to go wrong in an instant. I know the feeling. I hope you sort it out, though. This pandemic shall pass, and you will be able to call someone over to fix them. Don’t worry. :smiley_cat:

my brother loves asking Apple’s Siri weird questions just to see what answer the programmers have come with. I admit, Siri IS pretty funny and answers weird questions with dry humour :joy: The answers have changed over time though, guess they’re always updating.
I once used Google’s AI’s wake-up call with Siri (“hi Google!”) and Siri went: “haha, very funny.” :rofl:

Oh! I don’t have the Alexa machine I have a firestick. I have to press a button and ask questions. Nothing happens if I don’t press the button. Actually not much happens when I DO press the button either. :smile:

Alexa with fire stick has a hearing problem when I want the viki app to I said: Alexa; viki.com

so it explains to me is a female name. I said no, rakuten viki.com!

i know…took me quite a lot of time to warm up to him and Kai(his outer sexy dance machine self didn’t totally appeal to me, I love his Nini self) but once I fell, I truly fell :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
