Thanks for your encouraging PM!
I think I know who you’re talking about since there were some posts on Disqus that you wrote. It’s the same CM/editor I’m talking about who always takes the same French moderator. So it’s not a surprise.

Somehow, being on Viki trains you to recognize lies and deceit. Like people really want to bully/use or make others gullible… Once, they appear kind to others like on this forum, like on a Disqus comment because they never show a certain side to others, but in private messages to some other volunteers, it’s totally different. They will show you another side. They hide really well who they are. So even for Viki or other volunteers who have never been confronted to this type of PM from certain volunteers, it’s not easy I suppose to know this or to recognize it.

Hard to believe for volunteers, it’s exactly what you say. Don’t believe in goodness in every volunteer just because they are volunteers and don’t share real life matters with people whose conduct is questionable, because you can’t trust them.

The same CM/editor wanted me to have on dramas I manage only 1 editor as CE, TE, GE altogether whereas she’s not native in Chinese.
So I tried to be fair and ask that we accept other editors in the team, try with a TE… Finally, it was impossible to find a common ground to work together, but I tried to work together, no?
And all editors I have, she doesn’t get on well with… They already fight on a previous drama. So I think we’re talking about the same person?
How come the same CM/Editor had tedious relationships with many other editors/CM already?
Where does the problem lie?

Some can’t work in editing teams. Incompatible, because they never concede and always want to have the final say or control everything or they will always be right for them (even if it’s wrong). So incompatible for some to work together.

(Oh, she even recommended new subber(s) in Chinese (that she refused on her own dramas) to participate on dramas I manage whereas their knowledge in Chinese was questionable. If it’s not sabotaging other dramas by making wrong recommendations, then tell me the contrary. So trying to disguise a deed by putting it as a favor by “Oh, I’m helping you find new subbers,” tell me.)

The same with the French mod I’m talking about, I can’t work with volunteers who create secondary accounts or ask their subbers to take a drama for them so they can be the real mod. I can’t deal with this greediness. We’re not alone in this community, but they act as if they’re alone.

Why creating a secondary account to ask for moderation otherwise? If it’s not greediness, tell me what it is.
If it’s fair toward other mods, tell me.

So if ppl want to hide and PM me, I won’t answer.
If they have something to tell, don’t hide and tell me directly here instead of using PM to hide their deeds or try to manipulate again. In PM or closed doors, they do and say what they want. And it’s never punished or known, it’s making use of PM system to act like a bully.

when i see a contributor which has in the end of the month till 30.000 or more segs or subs, then i also don’t know how they do this or if they eveb have a private life. viki is not the whole world… it doens’t make money, food, etc…

I understand what you mean, and I’ve often wondered the same about a person who was every single week in the list of top ten contributors. But… We don’t know each person’s circumstances. For some people with difficult situations, Viki might be an escape and a consolation. Let’s not judge.

I was also speaking to myself at the same time. Because sometimes I also think it’s strange and I get suspicious. And sometimes I also think some people do a sloppy job, and that’s why they are so productive. I definitely know this to be true in some instances. People who never revise what they do. In some other cases, one may be just very quick because s/he is a seasoned professional. Or, as I said before, they might be going through something and Viki takes her mind off unpleasant real-life stuff.
There are many different reasons, so I’m telling myself that we cannot know which it is - unless of course we know the person and the situation.

Most people don’t understand / don’t want to believe in it because they have never experienced it personally.

1.Some ppl understand, they’ve sent me PM after these posts. They exactly know what I’m talking about because they have already experienced it with the same ppl.


2.I don't think it's a question of whom. It's a question of what. What is right or wrong to do. If I have said that this person was anonymous and such, most people would have said that what has been done is not acceptable. Just because of what has been done, and not because of the identity of a person.

If I focused only on facts, my opinion remains the same.
If others would focus only on facts, what about their opinion?

Because it is really hidden, shown to some targeted volunteers and it’s hard to even think that it’s possible.
That’s why I say only the few who experienced it can know what I’m talking about.


4.Mods who will protect this type of behavior have not experienced it, but if they had, they would probably have the same reaction than others and me. Some mods will protect this type of individuals because deep inside, they want to keep their precious position/future position.
5.If your neighbor has robbed someone, just because your neighbor hasn't robbed you (yet) or that you have a good relationship with him or that you don't know his hidden activities, it doesn't mean that your neighbor is not a robber or a good person and that ppl can protect this person.
6.And by protecting, they just invite ppl to do the same or continue. It's legitimizing this kind of behavior. Being passive in front of an accident = you haven't done anything to stop that. Just because you have not seen or experienced it, it doesn't mean that it's not real.
=> Just pointing that means that there's something wrong with this community. There are people who conduct not correctly, but other ppl don't react or are afraid to react. But you can't always be afraid and hide or turn a blind eye, you let ppl continue and finally gives the signal that others can do the same. It will continue and other people will have to experience what you have experienced, if you can stop it, you should react and not hide because you want peace.
=> I feel we lose something really important along the way being in this community. For what price finally? Are some ready to sell a part of their soul or integrity for a position or a drama? Are some people ready to hurt other volunteers for a position or a drama? I sometimes wonder. It's unsettling to think that.

I had posted here that generally due to the Roku app, I place 2 spaces ahead of the line break and 2 after. This makes the sub appear normal as the spaces are not an issue with the other formats and this then makes the two person dialogue not slam together.

I do not know if anybody put this anywhere else though. I usually suggest it if some asks me. :slight_smile:

My fault for not reading your posts not in reply to mine, but thanks for reading the breaks one and bringing an answer.
The practice of breaks mid-sentence without double space to correct the display has begun before your arrival or your discovering.

Since you’re working with this moderator, you should tell her what you told me if it’s not already done so she can add a double space.
Last time I saw on a drama of hers, there were no double spaces bef & after breaks mid-sentence on her dramas. So I suppose dramas before your arrival have no 4× spaces.

Also, if you are aware that one of your moderator uses a secondary account, as a CM or a friend of hers, you should tell your moderator or friend something. It is not right to turn a blind eye. It’s encouraging this behavior to continue.
Unless you agree with this behavior?

Other questions:
-Do you know if it works the same on Roku and on phone for breaks?

-I have noticed that double spaces were not rendered anymore on Viki website on computer, do you know if it changes something on Roku display?

-weird, bec having worked with an editor who already worked with you, we never put 4x spaces. When have you posted the 4x spaces post before we begin to add 4x spaces?
I prefer to check if you see what I mean.

Okay, I don’t know what’s going on here. I posted a note to what I thought was a question about line break and added spaces. Where a moderator chooses to follow this in OL is their choice really.

Sorry Piranna - I have no idea who you’re talking about in this thread - I am aware you and I had friction some time ago. I am not aware of any moderator with extra names or anything if that’s the question.

Years ago, we had some misunderstandings. You elected to make them public and then resurrected that old thread, which again seems a bit much.

I thought you and I were on good terms and so I’ve no idea where this is coming from, or whom, and I don’t care actually now to even try to figure it out. I can only guess which moderator this is about as you haven’t talked to me about it, so I don’t know.

If you want to pick a fight, choose a different target, as I’m not interested in arguing with you. :slight_smile: I’ve always admired your intelligence and ability to come up with good ideas here, but I’m now going to stop reading you entirely.

I can’t see the picture too clearly, as I said I am out of the “limelight” on air/newly uploaded drama projects. I feel like watching the British Parliament “working” on the Brexit. It leaves a bad feeling, you wonder if there will ever be a solution, and you (me) wish for it to never have happened in the first place.
But what I know. I once worked together with another German contributor with the ID jojoo, maybe some of you here might recall that ID. I have known her as a positive person, she was very diligent, doing German/English subtitles, segmenting and at that time doing a fan-channel for people to test and try if segmenting or subtitling is even something to consider. (We know that people think it is easy and give up in the first week, not every volunteer will stay here for years.) Anyway … One day I lost contact with her. I contacted some people I knew that she was working with to no avail. Then her ID was gone and later came back with a different name … It was spooky and one day I was communicating with someone telling me that she had an argument with another contributor. She didn’t know any details. At that moment jojoo left Viki, without looking back.
Of course, I was disappointed that she didn’t contact me after all the years at Viki we contributed together, but maybe she feared I would get involved or even try to persuade her to stay. (I can’t say, I wouldn’t have tried.) But I did have my troubles here too, so I took little breaks and a long break (7 months). I know how “this cyber life” can pull you in and make you think, that there are friends, frenemies and fiends. You wished that this place would be better, as it states that it wants to take down barriers, but we must acknowledge, I didn’t write accept here, that some people like to bully or like to stay together as a pack.
I will leave it with the words of Pal Kang from SFFTS, “my wish is for world peace”. I know it’s abstract, unrealistic at least in my lifetime and looking at the state the world is right now. But that won’t change my wish I will still sing John Lennon’s “Imagine”, I will still try to show R E S P E C T (Aretha Franklin), I will still try to help out …
I wish everyone a perfect day (Fisher Z) and “don’t give up” (Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush).
One song that is always healing for me is Shelter Me by Joe Cocker, maybe you want to try it, maybe it’s not your taste, but anyway. Remember out there are many Beautiful Flowers (India Arie), some only give their beauty, others offer fragrance and the next ones think they can only survive with lots of thorns.

Don’t turn black into white. If initially, you have acted correctly, respectfully, ethically, without manipulating, harming, sabotaging, hurting, driving away some volunteers from some teams/dramas why have you fought with so many volunteers?
Who is trying to push who?
Why would we talk about you here and why am I not the only one to have something to say about your behavior?


6- So do you still want to appear having credibility? Some mods (such as in the French language) you're working with have no ethics, lie to other French mods and CM with secondary accounts, so why would I feel you have more ethics than them?

I’ve never realized until now.

On the discussion where you were slashed 2 years ago.

1/ Either you knew that people would say bad things about you.
Why?
To play the victim? Show that you were the victim and others were bullies? Or at the moment people slashed you, you tried to make them feel guilty / appear guilty and took advantage of them feeling guilty? Like Sophie2you.


2/ Either you didn't know, but still: Sophie2you knew she was wrong, you knew she was wrong and you took advantage of this fact by highlighting it, it was unavoidable that knowing the kind of person she was, she would feel indebted to you. Did you know how to make her feel more guilty? Have you used it against her already?
It was kind of the same trick you used in your first PM, saying you were thinking of leaving and all. Now, thinking back, I'm doubting your words were sincere. I think that you used the excuse of "Oh, I want to leave, because they told me that, and that." Like you knew that it would make the other party feels bad or guilty.

Really, I wonder if you haven’t done it deliberately, playing the victim or taking advantage in it, in fact, putting the blame on volunteers while slashing them at the same time.

You kind of took advantage of the situation.

I wonder if you haven’t used the same tactics somewhere else to make other people appear “evil” or with bad intentions toward your person or without qualities for their roles such as editing (“It’s them, not me”).
"I (in capital letters) have done that, MY team has done that (in capital letters).
“THEY (in capital letters) insulted me. I was the victim (in capital letters).”

So some targeted volunteers would feel inexorably that you were right and would begin to distance themselves from the volunteers that you said were evil, bad to you or badmouthed you or were not good in the team, blablabla.

You didn’t take their positions?
Editors, rings a bell?
What was your excuse to explain why you took all 3 chairs?
“It’s easier to edit. They’re not competent, as I have worked with them already. You can ask to A.” (A being brainwashed by you already)

(I have to say: your attempt to critics their ability to edit has failed when I wanted to recruit you as an editor on the fan channel The Fated General, I now understand a lot of things)

You are tricky, it would be totally the kind of tricks you would pull actually. Done in the past, doing in the present, will do again.

French mods, if 10 dramas offer 10 mods positions.
5/6 dramas would be taken from the same duo of French mods with their secondary accounts.
They won’t let you have more chance. No, they’re reducing it.
They don’t want you to be mods on some dramas (or mods at all I would say knowing the battles), otherwise why would they create secondary accounts? It’s not for you that they do this. Clearly, they want to drive some mods away or not let the chance to new or old mods or to some teams.

It’s really selfish.
