Every cool yet hot actor starts somewhere.
I am on Episode 3 of Devil Judge, and the young actor Seo Woo Jin who plays the Judge’s older brother at the age of four or so has an impact in just the few minutes he is on screen.

I hope his parents are tiger parents until he is well-able to make his own decisions.
A huge pool of Korean entertainers is, based on the evidence of many media outlets, in constant turmoil as they struggle to qualify for a small number of roles in different programs and groups.
The competition seems to be especially grueling for boys and men.
I was immensely saddened by the hysteria and hype surrounding the suicide of Jonghyun in 2017 at age 27. A smart, driven, talented, and insecure man who let fame drive him instead of learning to make it serve him.

For some reason, 28 seems to be some sort of switch in the careers of Korean male entertainers. It seems to be the age at which a career is over unless certain milestones are achieved or surpassed.
“Flower boy-ness” seems to be the vibe that brings fangirls out in droves ready to spend money on concerts and merch. Yet obviously a singer, in a group or as a solo artist, cannot fake being fifteen forever.
Achieving the economic freedom and popularity necessary to successfully transition into a smooth idol is not something that everyone is capable of.
I can think of several actors who, in my opinion were unable to make the jump. Jan Keun-suk is one example. He started as a child model, rocked the flower boy vibe as long as he could and IMHO made some not good career choices.

The caption under photos in a 2020 weight-loss story about him: “‘Pretty boy is back,’ said one netizen."
How horrible is that?
When I saw Switch on Viki, I was impressed that he actually managed to carry off a pretty complex and serious acting assignment. Switch almost seemed a commentary on JKS’s struggles to break out of the box of fan expectations. But his professional life seems to have been shaped (pun intended) by constant tittle-tattle regarding his weight and . . . his NOSE???
My point here is that young Seo Woo Jin has his whole life ahead of him. I hope that he makes it to adulthood unscathed by the demands of what, for some Korean actors, has literally been a killer industry.
