For some reason, 28 seems to be some sort of switch in the careers of Korean male entertainers. It seems to be the age at which a career is over unless certain milestones are achieved or surpassed.
“Flower boy-ness” seems to be the vibe that brings fangirls out in droves ready to spend money on concerts and merch. Yet obviously a singer, in a group or as a solo artist, cannot fake being fifteen forever.
Achieving the economic freedom and popularity necessary to successfully transition into a smooth idol is not something that everyone is capable of.
I can think of several actors who, in my opinion were unable to make the jump. Jan Keun-suk is one example. He started as a child model, rocked the flower boy vibe as long as he could and IMHO made some not good career choices.

When I saw Switch on Viki, I was impressed that he actually managed to carry off a pretty complex and serious acting assignment. Switch almost seemed a commentary on JKS’s struggles to break out of the box of fan expectations. But his professional life seems to have been shaped (pun intended) by constant tittle-tattle regarding his weight and . . . his NOSE???
My point here is that young Seo Woo Jin has his whole life ahead of him. I hope that he makes it to adulthood unscathed by the demands of what, for some Korean actors, has literally been a killer industry.
