In our city of Dallas it is still legal to attempt conversion therapy. Though I never had to face this in the 1960s, 1970s, it was because I was completely secretive. I am glad this topic is shown. I can see why Christian groups were against this movie. They push conversion therapy.
Tomorrow we have a Christian group showing up and picketing us. I am going to speak to the group about how these atrocities occur and how must be determined to fight.

In my city, Melbourne in Australia, conversion therapy is banned.
As you would know, it’s well established now that conversion therapy does more harm than good and trying to convert someone’s sexuality from this to that doesn’t work. Given all the life experiences I’ve read and listened to online, I suspect that there are very few gay people who have not tried to stop being gay. The years of self-hate and anguish that many go through when it finally dawns on them that they don’t fit into the “I like the opposite sex” mold cannot be underrated. Conversion therapy compounds self-loathing rather than help people heal. I hope that things go well for you tomorrow.
