Somewhere between 95 to 99% of the Gay community has never heard of BL. It occurs to me that supporting the popularity of BL in the United States would prove to be useful in creating a cultural force against homophobia.
So I wrote the essay explaining what BL is and to forewarn them about elements they might be apprehensive about. In the LGBT studies there is debate about BL, but I think it is a powerful cultural force that could counter the forces of homophobia here in the United States.
