How can I know if a title can be translated in a specific language

Hi!
Though I’ve been translating as a subber/editor on Viki for 2 years now, I admit that I’m still a newbie and I don’t understand too much about how it works in the background. I wanted to try to be a moderator, but when I find some titles that aren’t translated in my language and I ask the channel managers if I can give it a try, the answer is the same. “The title is not available to be translated in your language because of distribution/copyright’s reasons”. And that’s okay, I understand that, though it’s a pity since they’re all great titles.
But at the same time I want to know if there is a way to see myself if the moderation/translation is possible, to avoid sending a request that would waste channel managers’ time uselessly. Because sometimes I see that some titles don’t have a translation in my specific language, but I don’t understand if it’s because no one was interested in doing that or if it’s simply not possible.
I tried to read the topics and rules but I never found the answer to this specific question. I would be very grateful to understand more about these things.
Thank you if you can answer me about this!

When you go to Project Finder, there is a check box that you can choose and it only show projects you can access. Maybe that could help?

I know some series / movies / shows were not able to be translated in other languages.
Usually they came with a banner like this

Not sure if the projects you applied to have more languages than just English (or the pre-sub languages).

Hi!
Unfortunately the Project Finder isn’t efficient even with that option. Because even if I have the option checked, the literally first drama that appears is KICKKICKKICKKICK that is completely unavailable in my country (not only to sub in my language, but as a whole show). So even if something appears on it, it doesn’t mean that I can work with it.

Hi!
The dramas I asked for has been translated usually in 3/4 languages, and this warning appears only when the title is available only in English. So if it’s translated for example in english and another language, there isn’t anything that says “your specific language is unavailable” unfortunately.

I think those might have been expanded to include the pre-sub languages (and only those). I wonder if they could update the banner from English only to also include the other pre-sub languages, so it’s clear the show only comes in those languages.

That would actually be helpful, but for now, there is no indication… so it’s like a try-and-see situation: you ask and the channel manager has to tell you. Viki in this aspect is very unhelpful.

If you see dramas or movies that only have English, Spanish, French and Portuguese subtitles, then only these languages are allowed. If there is at least one other language, it may also be translated into other languages.

There are currently three different options.

  1. English subtitles only
  2. English, Spanish, French and Portuguese subtitles
  3. all languages

For most channels that are only allowed to be translated into the 4 languages mentioned, this is also stated on the channel page.

Hi, maybe You could look at the show’s page on Viki?

If it’s not available for watching, then there is big chance it’s not available for subbing. I once applied for subbing a show, got a response but it was quiet ever since so I checked the series page and it’s blocked in my country. It’s not the fastest way but I think it’s good if You want to be sure.

Hope that somehow helped ^^

Ohh, I understand now. Those titles are in fact translated only in those 4 languages, I’ll check it with more attention now that I know that! Thank you!

Hi, actually it’s the first thing I do, I check both to be sure.
All the titles I asked for are visible in my country, but they can’t be translated, that’s why I had the issue…
Thank you though!
