How do dramas get learn mode?

Just wondering if learn mode is added on by subtitlers or is it done separately?
I have found learn mode on a lot of Kdramas but lately none on Cdramas.
Or is learn mode added after the subtitles later?

Learn mode is available when volunteers take the time to add Korean and Chinese subs.

Every Korean episode that has at least 50% Korean subs and every Chinese episode that has at least 50% Chinese subs is available for learn mode.

Sorry to hijack this topic a bit, but is there a way to find out which series have learn mode or not? I want to improve my Korean and it would really help if I could choose series based on them having learn mode or not. Is there a list somewhere?
Or an option?

I did find one channel but the series were a bit old.

Yeah, I know about that link but my point is that not all drama’s are shown there. So it would be convenient if there was a sign above a drama if it has learn mode or if maybe a user made a channel containing all Korean shows with this function available.

There is not a list, but if you really want to know you can find out manually:

  1. Go to Viki homepage and change your content language to Korean. (Viki might automaticly change your site langauge as well, it happens often with me)

  2. Go to the explore section and select Korean shows and Korean subtitles.

Now Viki will show you all Korean shows with Korean subs including the percentage.
Note that Viki will also show 100% Korean subs even if only one episode has them. So if you find a show that interests you you still have to check the episodes to see if they all are subbed in Korean or not.

Have you tried Viki Learn yet? It’s a language learning site from Viki that helps you learn Korean from K-dramas and has quizzes and vocab lists on top of the Learn Mode functionality.

A lot of Chinese dramas have hard-subs in the original video and full English subs. For these, learn mode isn’t available and almost always, the English subs are on top of the original Chinese subtitles. It’d be great if there was an option to move the English subs to the top of the screen instead of the bottom, as then it’d be easy to get the learn mode effect for all of these other Chinese programs.
