Here in France, people used to move out as soon as they got financially independant. I moved when I was 21. Now it varies, some try to stay with their parents for a couple of years at least in order to save money on rent. I think young people are more money-oriented nowadays and sort of “prepare” for their independance. All my neighbours’ children did that, save money for a couple of years at least before buying their own place.
