I have an simple question about music ^^

Ok, I’m from Germany and I know that a lot of you listen to Asian music and I I would like to see what do you think of German music compared to Japanese, Chinese or Korean music? I am just curious about what you might think.

Before I post some examples, I have to say, that even I am living in Germany, I’m not really a fan of the German music and compared to the Asian music, you can really see a big difference in quality, the way how the songs are made and who makes the music. I never fell really like if I needet to like German music and even English music isn’t really ma taste and so I really fallen in love with Asian music after I first found Japanese music and later Korean music and some Chinese songs^^

So please listen to the examples and than tell me your opinion and what you would say compared to Asian music^^ (I try tu put up as many genre I can, so don’t wonder about the songs and you don’t need to listen to the full lengh of all songs^^)

Interesting question^^ I’m curious as well and have to say except for Tote Hosen and… maybe Mark Forster… I don’t know anyone of these artists nor their songs. Well I don’t even know what to answer to the question “Who is a current famous musician in Germany?” so I probably don’t count as representative example^^

Ich finde deutsche Musik toll!

Well, I don’t know many German artists, so I’m trying to discover a few more. Some artists I know: Wir sind Helden, Annett Louisian, Revolverheld, Tim Bendzko, Mark Forster, Cro (I didn’t know the songs you put in here, though). I discovered them via youtube so I don’t know how popular they are in the German-speaking regions.

Compared to Asian music… it’s hard to say, cause Asia is so big and has so many genres… Just like German songs of course. The only thing I can say: from German songs I can understand about 95% and from Asian songs (Chinese/Korean) about 40%. That’s the only comparison I can make.

@emmilie96 When German songs hit more than a couple of million views than you know that these artists are quit famouse in Germany. For example: I put up “Bausa-Was du Liebe nennst” and this song has over 60 million views, so this isn’t comming from nothing you know and many of the Artists I listed up here even made it to the German Top10 in the charts… I am not really sure who of the groups/People I made up here are the most famouse, but here in Germany you must feel very honored when you get an “MTV unpluged” and the only artist of all I put up here is Cro who got a concert like this with MTV and so I gues he could be the most famppuse one of all people I put up here… but Die Toten Hosen are extremly fampuse in Germany as well. I am not sure, but Die Toten Hosen exist over 30 years now and have a lot of really famouse songs here^^

Compared to Japanese or Korean music is that a lot of Artist from Germany are/was famouse in other countrys, but mostly those who sung in English… (Cascada, Scorpions, Scooter, Alphaville, Tokio Hotel,…)

WELL EVERY COUNTRY HAS A CERTAIN KIND OF TEMPO THEY USE IN MUSIC AND A WAY OF COMPOSING THAT GOES ACCORDINGLY TO THE CULTURE.

IT IS A MATTER OF PERSONAL CHOICE REALLY , I COULD TELL YOU THAT AS AN OPERA SINGER I DO NOT PARTICULARLY ENJOY LIEDS, OR ARIAS THAT ARE SUNG IN GERMAN. BUT I DO HAVE TO ADMIT THAT WE DO HAVE GREAT CLASSICAL MUSIC COMPOSERS AND THAT WE HAVE CONTRIBUTED A LOT TO MUSIC.

I PERSONALLY ENJOY MUSIC FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.:bouquet:

The first MTV unplugged with a German artist took place in 1994 with Herbert Grönemeyer, afterwards Fantastischen Vier, Ärzte, … Many more …
We once had fan channel at Viki with German interprets and the most loved songs in German were

One word: Scorpions !!!

I think you can’t really compare it, since German songs that have a deeper meaning are often focused on the lyrics so they may be less melodic and because of the way the language is you can’t e.g. create such rap songs like in English. I’m also unsure if you can make so many word plays in other language like you can do in German.

Even as German I don’t know all of your examples and I feel that they doesn’t fit to German songs that are more interesting, so I’ll post some examples of songs I like:

Yessssssssss, Scorpions are great, but didn’t sing in German. LOL
If you like this kind of music, there are some rock bands from Germany but with different directions.
Since you like the Scorpions, here is Klause Meine doing a song with German rock band Avantasia

Other bands/singer to discover or maybe known by you:
Axel Rudi Pell, Doro (former Warlock lead singer), Guano Apes, Edguy, H-Blockx, Die Happy, Beatsteaks, Donots, Xandria, …
