May I know why volunteer team edited subs usually come late now on recent dramas? It it a licensing reason or Viki’s decision? Before when My Beloved Thief aired, it doesn’t have a team editing the presubs until the end of the drama, and I’m concerned that this will always be the same now on the dramas they recently acquired.

I wonder who translates Phantom Lawyer… I didn’t know German subs use informal speech among lawyers, clients and unrelated persons for Korean drama, knowing that S.Korea has 3 or more different politeness forms… There is no subbing team… It can’t be machine translated… there are some typos too…

Regarding the later addition of volunteer teams to recent dramas, I believe it is a Viki decision. It seems to be a new policy by V for certain dramas. I do not believe that it is driven by liscensing agreement terms, but rather internal policy decision at V. From what I have observed, I feel you can expect this trend to continue going forward with the newly acquired dramas. That said, this policy does not seem to be applied across the board for all new dramas. It seems to be in place most consistently for new first-run Korean dramas. For other Korean content, such as Variety shows, Daily dramas, and Older dramas, as well as content from other countries (China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, etc) the wait time for the creation of Volunteers Teams varies. Some content is assigned a CM and volunteer teams right away (or even before upload) as has been the usual procedure, some content has a delay before a CM/volunteers are chosen and allowed to work on the projects, some content is not open for CM/volunteers until after all episodes have been posted.
Again, my feeling is that the delay in allowing volunteers to work on the projects is a V policy decision and not related to liscensing agreements and will continue going forward, but that is just my feeling after having observed the situation and having worked on some recent projects. As to why V decided to enact this new policy, I am not sure. Perhaps others here in the forum may have additional information and can comment further.

@aznative I don’t know if we already had this old drama on Viki or if the channel is new now. At MDL only K o c o w a is listed, not Viki… But the Team Discussion is completely empty for this channel, which is actually only the case for channels that have not yet been worked on.

Part of the team, yes, but not the CM from the previous seasons. Viki will definitely choose someone new (maybe someone from the old team), and that person will decide how to set up the team.

I scanned the MDL comments from 14 years ago and leahakiko said “Big” was available on Viki. I vaguely remember it (I joined Viki in 2010) but I may have seen it on Dra ma Cra zy.
