Looking for Viki Segmenters

@ivytrinh2341987_494 You must first go through the entire NSSA program (sandbox, levels 1 to 5 and the exam) before you can work as a segmenter at Viki.

You can apply for that here: Segging Sign-Up

Good evening Mr/Ms @ a_hauth_238, thank you very much!!

Are you still looking for segmenters? I’ve passed everything and have worked on a couple projects already.

Sorry, Whispers of Fate is almost done being segmented. I don’t have any other projects at this time.

Hello, Segmenters!

I have a movie that drops on December 15. Interested? It has cutie Jasper as the ML. Remember, the woods are not scary if you watch the movie during daylight hours. :salt: :prayer_beads: :latin_cross:

Contact @porkypine via viki mail if you are interested.

I really enjoy segmenting, and I want to be able to contribute my skills to any team, and also keep in practice!

Hi all,

Used to work on older dramas but stopped due to technical difficulties. Looking to get back into this with a new setup. Experienced in simultaneous segmenting and subbing Chinese Language dramas (can do rudimentary Korean).

Please let me know if you have any projects that need help, can do segmenting and subbing.
Thanks

Hello!
Now thanks to Alex I see that you havent graduated from NSSA, if you had been a former grad you could have contacted me but now you have to start from the begining if you plan to be a segger.

@starempress_9 You don’t have a NSSA or Seg 101 graduation, so you can’t segment on Viki right now. And creating Chinese subtitles for a drama where you’re not listed as a Chinese subber and there’s no moderator for that language isn’t allowed and violates Viki’s guidelines.

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know. It’s been a few years from when I was doing this stuff so I am not sure how things have changed from when I was doing this work. What is NSSA and where should I go it if I want to start from the beginning?

Thats where you start

Hello, I am new to the community, and I want to be a segmenter! I have no experience and I am sending myself to the NSSA training to qualify. I can dedicate at least 1 hour each weekday and 2+ hours each Saturday and Sunday. Initially I applied to be a subtitler, but it seems to have a lot of difficulties due to the vacancies of moderators. I am hoping to gain some experience in every field so that I can contribute to be a moderator in the future. My profile is: Watch K-Dramas, Korean Shows & Chinese Dramas | Rakuten Viki

Thank you very much,

Hi, it’s me again. Apparently the NSSA Academy page is not found (Error 404).

If you are a segmenter, this does not automatically mean that you can be a moderator. To be a moderator, you must first work as a subtitler.

Which language would you have liked to subtitle in? For English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish, it’s not possible to be a regular subtitler anymore cause all shows come with presubs in at least those for languages (and sometimes even a few more). There are still options to become an editor in those languages. You can discuss this with the moderator of your language for the show you would like to work on.
For other languages, there are still vacancies for subtitlers but nowadays, it’s not allowed to be an unsupervised subtitler anymore. If a show has no moderator for your language, you cannot work on that show until a moderator has been found. If you want to become a moderator yourself, you should first gain at least 3,000 contributions in your language by working as a subtitler and/or editor under the supervision of an experienced moderator.
Unless you want to subtitle into a rare language that we don’t have moderators for, this doesn’t have to be a problem. Just write to a moderator and ask if they have a show where you could join. That would also be a good way to spend the time you are on the waitlist for segmenting. Do make sure not to take on too much work for now, though. Once your segmenting education starts, you are expected to give it your full attention.

Hello! I graduated from NSSA as a segmenter on 3/20 but I’ve been inactive for the last 4 years. Do I need to re-enroll in NSSA again? Thanks for you help in advance.

You don’t have to repeat everything, but since a lot has changed in recent years in terms of segmenting, it’s advisable to do a refresher course where all the new things are explained to you. You should contact Hana (@hana_860) or Maria (@maria_lavendula_77) for this.
