Okay, say I joined and became a segger, if I did segmenting for a Kdrama would I need to know Korean? Or Japanese for a Jdrama?
Nope. Knowledge of the language is not required. During the training the students segment on videos of 5 or 6 different languages with different instructors. You can also specialize on a certain language. The training starts off with basic instruction in the Ninja Sandbox. The Sandbox training is designed to get you through about 90 % of the things you will need to learn in a very simple fashion that builds on itself. After the Sandbox you move on to advanced training and that is where you get the practice needed and refine your skills.

I wasnāt able to be online last night for the Meet & Greet. I just couldnāt work it out. Iād be happy to discuss any aspect of the training. It was designed to build skills, step-by-step. We donāt just throw you into cutting segments. There are three phases of training; Green Sand, Blue Sand and Red Sand. Green provides an opportunity to get a look at the segment timer as well as good, previously prepared segments. Blue Sand permits the student to make adjustments to existing segments that are slightly out of adjustment. In Red Sand the students cut new segments. Each of these phases only utilizes 3 minutes of video. Thatās all, so it isnāt like you will be up all night working on an assignment. The average time to complete the basic training is about 8 days, but that is mostly due to the available time of the students. Many have completed it in just a day or two. Coaching and feedback is provided all along the way so you are not left on your own to figure out things. We do have a lot of guidelines and training videos available to help you though.

just wanna ask a few thingsā¦ 
is this perhaps a new kind or something like segmenting 101 on the old era of viki??
if so do I need to subscribe and graduate here too like on seg101? So that I can work on major project?
Back then I was already a graduate segmenter and had QC badged tooā¦ but viki changed too much and i donāt understand anymore here lolā¦ anyway since Iām free now and have a lot of time I wanted to come back and give my contribute here again.
ah for subbing, is it the same thing??

@cuppycake18 Welcome back and thanks for your interest! Ninja Academy is not associated with Seg101, but Seg101 is still an active channel that teaches segmenting. If you want to learn how to segment on the new segment timer, you can apply to either program. Most major channels require segmenters to be graduates from one. Ninja Academy currently offers a segmenting program and is working on becoming a place where people can learn good contributing practices in all areas (including subbing and editing). But you donāt, that Iām aware of, have to learn subbing from a program to subtitle; it would just be for anyone not sure where to start or wanting to improve.
