The segment timer is pretty user-friendly, but it would probably be worthwhile to have someone help you learn the tools and practices again. I bet you would pick it up fairly quickly! 
Yep, they are just different programs. The Ninja Academy subbing portion is currently a work-in-progress. You can always PM me if you need help or AmyPun (CM of the NSSA) if you have questions about the academy too.
