I asked in general whether that(rating and suggesting the subtitles) is disabled now because I’m new here.
I have seen some profiles who are active years ago(my language).Their recent contributions showed they suggested a subtitle. And i saw @leerla73 's profile she rated some subs.

I asked @leerla73 a while back the same thing how she did that rating bc since 2013 that I’m here, and I never saw that before, but I don’t even remember what she answered lol. Then, it hit me and my memory fog dispersed.
YES, rating and suggesting subtitles
years back was called a ONE LINER: a person would suggest a subtitle and we would give it a like or change (edited) our own version. I would never RATE One Liner for a language I didn’t know, only my native Language Spanish and Second Language; English. Maybe, leerla knows your language? Btw, I am so grateful for whoever eliminated that One Liner bc abusers that wanted subtitles count would give the same subtitle a person wrote, and add a period/change a word, and would get it as subtitle count in their page.
I hope they never, ever, bring that One Liner here again, not productive at all.
So they count as a contribution too isn’t it. And i didn’t check all but from the screen shot i took out of 5 on it 3 have spelling mistakes and it counted lol.
No! She doesn’t know my language. That was a screen shot from my language’s subtitler’s profile.both are different screen shots.

I remember how angry I used to get with those ONE LINER that created so much chaos here. I think you should concentrate on applying in dramas/movies/shows as an Editor in your language bc my experience tells me that volunteers like you, are hard to find. The concern you show when you see misspelled stuff in your language shows me you really care to see quality subs in your language.
Ah, thoooose… Yeah, one-liners were sporadic subs a newbie subber would write in order to get accreditation for his profile in the old Volunteer Finder.
The most problematic part of one-liners was the fact that they were completely without context. If I remember correctly (and it was so long ago), you just knew which drama you were translating. And if you haven’t watched that drama… well, tough luck.
Google Translate posse. Those who don’t really know how to translate, so they copy-paste it from GT. Also known as the Evil Googlators™. 
Well, I think you only knew it later, when you looked at your contribution, but I might recall that wrong.

Yes, it was after we did the one liner, and saw it in our page that we would know what drama it came from (that is why in Spanish they would do the sub as female when it was suppose to be male) etc… I stopped doing one liner when I realized I was making that same mistake too.

In the time it was introduced first, I tried it to understand how it works. You can see a very small number in my history and I never used it again.Do you find the VOL tool useful?

Interfere? I don’t know if I would go as far to say that, but for a tool I never intend to use, just the sight of it bugs me. So I would love to make that button go away from that spot.Did the VOL feature play a role in introducing you to subtitling when you first visited Viki?
LOL, back then it didn’t exist, luckily, it would have confused me and would have given me the wrong idea of good subtitles.If we are to improve the VOL feature, how would you suggest we improve it?
_ I think there is no way, or let’s say it would make less trouble, if you at least would ban it from dramas and movies. You would need to jump from that one line to the exact line into the subtitle editor to get the context, to be sure about the honorable speech used or not, if you translate from English to like me German. If it’s a dialogue, who is talking young to old, young people, they all use a different kind of vocabulary. So, at that point, what is the use of the one liner anyway???Would you prefer that we keep the VOL feature or remove it altogether?
Remove it, that would be my wish. Or better said since you brought it up, it has been my wish it would disappear again.

It might be some bug normally the access is not related to the user’s profile, you are a basic user and can’t read it, @angelight313_168 and me are regular users and can read it. The only explanation I have right now, even though I never encountered it before.
It can also be that both of you have read this topic before it was archived.
No, I read it, then padmalayag tried and couldn’t, and then I asked angelight313_168 to try, and the outcome is Trust Level regulars can read it. You are in between basic and regular and a member, so you can’t read it as well?

Probably because it was created by Viki staff, so later it was only made accessible for regulars back then, we learned that most of the staff are regulars, so now only users with the regular level can see and others don’t. Well can’t help it, I copied out my comment, so one can get the idea what that post was about.

I wish I was a polyglot Nope! I only rated the languages, I practiced. 
At any rate, this will all be archived soon, the profile page will get a facelift on the 28th! It always annoyed me seeing the QC trainee timeline. Maybe they should make a function to “hide details” for users, like a drop down arrow.
