I sent a message in English in Discussions to @vikicommunityteam to remove the Spanish which was written instead of Czech in the Czech sub editor in a K drama episode. The user was deleted by viki staff a long time ago but nothing was done about the wrong language subs. (97% subbed) (Does someone not want the %age to decline to zero, even if the language is completely wrong?) I also flagged the video for inappropriate subbing and sent an email in English to zendesk@viki.com (I’m the channel manager on the channel) I was hopeful that at least one of these pleas for help would be responded to.
This is the response I received via email several hours later. ( I don’t know any Chinese except what is necessary to play mahjong. I got a badge in Chinese subbing because as a segmenter over ten years ago, I was allowed to copy beginning and end OST lyrics in English after the CE subbed the lyrics).

Is this the same message that everyone usually gets, but for some reason it’s in Chinese instead of English because you sent it to a direct email address?
I’m just guessing.
I think the easiest thing to do is to open a ticket.

They told you to go to support.viki.com, so if you don’t find an answer there and if you still need help, they will answer you as soon as possible. Since the ticket is open, go to your @ address and there you can see who you need to contact. @cgwm808

They ALWAYS send me messages in Korean , and I’m from the Italian Community. It was impossible to get this thing right and now I’m accustomed to

Well, the help desk is geared for those who can read Simplified Chinese. AND it is useless. I*t’s just an auto-responder.

I don’t think the help desk is geared that way. Thus far, I’ve only received two responses or notifications in Chinese (Simplified). When I received them, I was surprised because the original query was in English. Then I thought that could be because I am (to date) one of the Chinese language contributors. Then again, why not in Korean? I was that, too.

It makes me ponder…If the MT/AI thus far implemented is of such a “standard”, where outcomes in languages are inappropriately disseminated, seeing both examples shared, then it surely isn’t an improvement to the status quo of when the Community was largely active, and where we were receiving human responses. Back then, there was no generic team (like @.vikisubteam) or team holder (like @.vikicommunity). Imagine similar “misappropriation” in subtitles?:unamused: I hope the examples stated above were just glitches, yet, how often can we, or should we, just thumb it down as such - glitches?:unamused:

Btw, I’m not against AI and tech advances. In fact, I welcome them and believe one should harness the other for the betterment of the whole. However, they should not overtake human decency or enable organizational disregard of humanity.

i always got french or spanish mails… i am german, so yeah … xD

It’s good, though, that you can access your Help Center account. I haven’t been able to do that since we were moved to the contribute.viki.com subdomain, neither on the Help Center nor on Contributor Support. I’ve tried multiple devices, from different locations and on different internet networks; I get logged out of my Viki account every time.

It’s good that I can still open tickets and reply to them via email, but only if I receive a reply from them. Otherwise, I have no way of checking the status of the tickets, and I might find at any time that they’ve been closed because I haven’t been active on them.

I’ve reported the issue several times, and each time they’ve told me the problem is on my end, even though it’s absolutely clear that it’s not my fault; it’s something related to my account on their servers. I’ve even wondered if this might be intentional on their part.

With another account that has no contributions, I can log in without any problems to the Help Center and Contributor Support using the same devices and the same internet connections.

So I lost any hope that they will help me for real to get this fixed.

I could reach the Help Center. They asked me many questions and, after a couple of days, the FINAL question: Is the problem solved? No, it wasn’t, it isn’t and it won’t. So, please, don’t mind. Actually they cannot fix it and that is all.
