Recent changes on the video player

Hello, I am writing this message to check in with other users about the recent changes to the video player (on web browsers), as this might just be an issue on my end, given that I am a bit sensitive to changes.
In any case, I watch Viki on a web browser (Edge), and last week they moved the 10-second skip forward and backward functions (which I use quite often) from the bottom left to the center of the screen. Every time I use this feature, the buttons stay visible in the center for a few seconds, which is already quite intrusive in itself, but today I noticed yet another change while using that same function: now when the buffering bar disappears an annoying black shadow remains on the screen for a few seconds, making the overall viewing experience even less enjoyable.
As I mentioned, I wanted to see if this is something that only bothers me (which is likely, given my allergy to changes) or if other users find it annoying too (assuming anyone else has noticed these changes).

Thank you in advance for any opinions on the matter.

For me the white buttons (-10sec, Pause, +10 sec) in the screen center don’t go away until I pause and unpause the video.

I get the buttons in the center immediately, without even having used them, and they don’t go away by themselves. Yes, that is indeed annoying. :unamused:

Not only the issue of the buttons lingering, but since the play button has also moved to the center of the screen, the button for “episodes” has replaced the play button in the bottom bar. So when I move my cursor there out of habit, the episode list pops up and also lingers for several seconds before disappearing, almost completely covering the video. I will adapt to that specific change in time, but it’s an annoyance in the meantime. Unfortunately, the lingering of the buttons in the center of the screen can’t be avoided. It seems like such an unnecessary change, which makes it even more annoying.

Agree with all the above.

Truly annoying changes, esp when one pauses the vid to read the long/quick-changing subtitles, the dark shadow is annoying and in the way, let alone having to wait for a few secs every time any of the above scenario takes place. It just makes viewing very frustrating and no longer as fun as before such changes were made :rage:

Thank you all for your opinions. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

Anyway, as I wrote in a feedback message sent to customer support (not that it will change anything, but it’s worth a shot), their choices as a company are unquestionable, and we as users just have to accept them.
Still, the objective fact remains that, in a streaming service, moving elements in a way that directly obstructs the viewing experience is a completely incomprehensible and hardly justifiable choice. We’ll just have to adapt there’s nothing else we can do, but i’ts annoyng for sure.
