[Recommendations] Good Philippine Dramas

I know that there are few Philippine dramas and movies here in Viki because it’s quite difficult to obtain license from the broadcasting networks (or where you ask permission for the license).

I’m wondering what are the criteria that should be followed in order to obtain license for these dramas. Does it need to be old or something? It’s just that I noticed that the Philippine dramas here are quite old. Tsk. Tsk. It’s a waste because there are really good dramas that I wish people around the world can watch.

Anyway, I think I should be content with just recommending dramas that I like.
By the way, fellow Filipinos can also recommend the Philippine dramas that they like and let’s all sigh and dream together…

Story:

Eli, a simple yet hardworking student who is very much the opposite of Jackie’s social status. Due to their depressing situation, Eli’s brother was forced to join a group that is set to kidnap Jackie. Things did not turn out as planned that led Jackie lose her memory and Eli decides to pretend to be Jackie’s husband. With the passing of time, they fall in love.

While Jackie is believed to be dead, JB finds solace in the arms of Jackie’s cousin, Celine. Until an accident occurs and restores Jackie’s memory. Confused and disoriented she decides to return home. JB and Celine were then forced to deny their relationship.

The entire mishap has made Don Fidel devastated, vengeful and biter. He swears to make Eli and his family miserable.

I’m not sure what difficulty Viki is having in obtaining Philippine dramas, but I’m guessing you’re right, maybe it is a licensing thing. I know ABS-CBN is showing their dramas on the paid online service TFC.tv, which I have a subscription to. They have a lot of selection, including some of these older shows, but what I don’t like is that there’s no English subs like Viki (though they do have Magkaribal with subs), and they don’t have the cool live-comment feature either.

I don’t know about shows though made by GMA Network though, so far I haven’t seen a streaming service for them.

I wish Philippine networks would be somewhat flexible regarding their license. Tssssk! We have lots of good movies and dramas but they don’t give others a chance to watch it.

I liked Maging Sino Ka Man. during its airing all the people in our house pauses and watch. If you submit these dramas I think it would be just a fan channel and it’ll be your problem to look for the video source. The thing also is ABS or GMA don’t upload a genuine copies of their dramas so where would you get the videos. I think that a lot of people will like our dramas too here on viki esp. with the heavy dramatic acting that the actors are capable of but sadly we have no way we can get a license while a drama is still airing. Maybe we should mail the viki people and ask them about it.
