hello to everyone! joined the Otter Cabin bc i’ve always loved water + i had an otter phase as a kid. life’s been crazy lately so for now i’d just love to get my participation badge and we’ll see what happens from there <3
Hello fellow campers! ![]()
How are you doing today?
I just wanted to wish everyone a very good start of camp, as today is the first day.
And as we’re gonna start this little camping adventure, why not share some songs or stories around the fire, or some receipes to enjoy nice food, or little anecdotes or tips for when we forget important tools or ingredients?
Today, I’d like to share with you my “taboulé” receipe.
I don’t think the original dish is French, actually, but this is my own version of it.
I think it’s nice and cool, just the perfect dish for an outside lunch in the summer.
You don’t need any special device or magic ingredients.
This is how you can prepare it:
1- prepare the semolina and let it cool
2- put it in a dish or salad bowl
3- peel and cut the cucumber into small pieces & add it
4- clean and cut the tomatoes into small pieces & add it
5- clean and cut the onion into small pieces & add it
6- clean and cut the fresh mint & add it (if you can’t find mint, maybe you can replace it by basilic)
7- press the lemon on the dish for it’s juice (you can add some slice of it before in the dish for decoration)
8- add salt & pepper depending on how you like seasoning
9- you can even add ham or chicken depending on how you like it or if you want to vary the pleasure ![]()
10- it’s better to leave it in the fridge a few hours before eating (a cool box with ice blocks would do for our camp
)
Bon appétit ! ![]()
Hey everyone! Lovely to see this camp kicking off with some good food vibes already ![]()
Since we’re sharing recipes around the fire, I’d like to bring a little taste of the South of France to the table. It’s called “cade”, a simple chickpea flatbread from Toulon, where I’m from. It’s basically the cousin of the more famous “socca” from Nice, just with a different name depending on which coastal city you’re in!

It only needs 5 ingredients, no fancy equipment, and it’s perfect to bake over a fire too if you’ve got a good pan.
Ingredients (serves 4 to 6):
- 250g chickpea flour
- 1L water
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- Black pepper to taste
No toppings needed, it’s good just as it is. Great for an easy outdoor lunch too ![]()

Oh, thanks, I need chickpea flour now, lol!

I decided to go with the bears. Strength isn’t always about physical power.
Have a great time, everyone. My goal is summit…
I chose the Bears without a clear goal. Good luck everyone! ![]()
I joined the Otter Cabin and I have no goals this time. Have fun and good luck everyone! ![]()
Hello everyone! ![]()
I’m so happy to see people having fun and interacting on this new challange. ![]()
Kudos to @vikicommunity for coming up with such an interesting theme and bringing people together! ![]()
I’ve chosen the bear cabin and honestly had such a hard time choosing between the four since I’m an animal lover and find every living thing cute haha.
I’m having so much fun reading all the comments and recipes from our fellow contributors. It brings me so much joy to learn new things ![]()
I don’t really have a goal for this challenge but I’ll make sure to have fun through this amazing camping experience!! ![]()
aannnnddd my turn to introduce you all to THE MOST FAMOUS INDIAN CUISINE (not invented in india) “Biriyani” hehe
![]()
there are many types of biriyani,
- Chicken biriyani
- mutton biriyani
- beef - paneer
- veg biriyani and much more!
It’s known for its versatility and difference based on region. You can find tons of recipes on the internet and even one state in india has many kinds of biriyani recipes based on the district! all this is fabulous in it’s own sense isn’t it? (just thinking about it makes me drool
)
I’ve attached a local recipe but you can find more on the internet.!
Have a fabulous stay in the camp!! ![]()
I chose the fox
… for reasons … now I just need the raspberries ![]()
Camping without a BBQ?
Homemade pita‑souvlaki for unforgettable nights around the fire!!!
Oeh, I love Biryani… (and food in general to be honest
)
I think all the recipes are great. Keep them coming… ![]()
Same here! I love to experiment on my taste palates with food! ![]()
I’ve chosen to join the foxes
. Their legends are always on dramas and my favourite one is Blue whisper. Also in korean drama they are always powerful and mysterious. I’d like to be part of their clan. My goal : to archieve more contributions on viki.
Ok, so we want camping recipes…
Well in our nordic countries we have “pinnbröd” (bread on a stick) and even if it’s super simple to make I found a recipe online
Here in northern Europe it’s very common even when I was in kindergarten we did it “ourselves” (with a grownup keeping an eye on us). I still think it’s a nice thing to do even if I don’t really have a fire outside during summer (I save most of my wood for winter and keeping my whole house warm).
We call it “kräm” in Sweden and I like it when it’s done from scratch, with berries from my garden (I’m not sure I would like versions from the store).
I’m joining the Fox Cabin and aiming to reach Basecamp! Ready for the adventure!
