Travelling to Seoul in April next year - need advice :)

Heya all,

Anyone from Seoul here? Or maybe have been to Seoul?
My friends and I finally made a decision about when we’re going to Seoul. Yay! It will be April 6th, for about 5 days.

What are the things to see in Seoul in 4 days?

Anyone knows a good but inexpensive accommodation in the city for 8 ladies?

Thanks,
Tasya ^^

Tasya!

No advice whatsoever, just super excited for you! ^^

hehehe thanks, Music!!! XD

I’ve never been to Seoul, but if I was I would go see all the places from k-dramas. Maybe you could do this too??

Of course but there would be so many places to see for only 4 days. And since I am with a group, perhaps not just places from k-dramas scenes, but also some tourist spots.
That’s why I’m gathering info now. We won’t go there without making a plan first.
Done my homework of googling, checking out the trip advisor web and such and now I’d like to get info from people here on Viki who - maybe - live in Seoul, or have been to Seoul.

I hope you have fun when you go!! I would love to go to seoul. :sunny:

So go to Namsan tower!
Go to Hongdae (best on Sunday because they have a bazaar).
I’d also recommend Gyeongbokgung Palace.

I went to Myeongdong and it was nice, but it like a big open air mall. There is so much to see so if you don’t see that I wouldn’t worry about it

What do you want to see?
oooh I’m so excited for you!

HESTOOOO!!!

Yes, of course we’ll go to Namsan Tower. We want to put the lock there hahahahaha
Where did you stay that time? We’re looking somewhere in Myeongdong at the moment.

Tasya,

How are you planning to get around while there? Unless you have someone on the ground there waiting to take care of you, you might want to connect with a travel agent. They can provide you with a lot of options for things to do in such a short time. They can recommend hotels and get you where you want to go. Travel around Seoul is not so easy.

Something you might want to think about some between now and then is food. Some people have difficulties with Korean food and some love it. I love it and would visit just to eat. You might research some of the food and if you have Korean restaurants available try some. That way you can at least know of some things you will be sure to like to eat. Besides Korean foods, you should try Japanese Shabu Shabu while there. Also, Korean-Chinese restaurants are wonderful. There you can get dishes not found in your basic Chinese restaurants. There are also a lot of great noodle dishes to. Try Jajangmen (spelling ?) a noodle mixed with a black bean past, some meat and vegetables.

I hope you like garlic as Korea is known as the land of the garlic eaters.

Enjoy your trip!

We decided not to use travel agency and just do it ourselves. We read on bloggers’ reviews that it’s doable. And yep, we don’t have problem with the food because we’re all Indonesians so we can take spicy-garlicy food
Thanks for the links, will check those out. Oh, and I saw your name on The King’s Face! Welcome to the team!! xox

I dont’ think I’d stay in Myeongdong, if I do it again… the hotel room I stayed in was very tiny (I’m 5’2" and if I lay on the floor my feet would touch one wall and my head would touch the other… very narrow.) it was also very expensive. There are some guest houses and things like that, which are much cheaper with more space.

Take tons of photos!! OH and eat the Kimchi! (맛있어요!)

Hey guys, I’ll be travelling to seoul in April and would love to hear more about your trips. Do you have any recommandations? What did you enjoy doing the most?

go to tripadvisor.com and book things there

I wouldn’t book through Tripadvisor if I were you.

They have very dishonest people working the site, tons of false advertisement, etc. For example, they allow certain people to post ads on TripAdvisor’s forums and delete other people’s responses if they are not paid.

Actually, TripAdvisor lost a case in court in Italy and had to pay a very heavy fine. In the U.S., they cannot be sued because they found a loophole in the law: they cannot be held legally responsible for checking “people’s” posts, whether they are true or not. TripAdvisor is widely known for asking businesses for bribes, etc. There are other sites that actually post only verified customers’ responses, I would go with them.

Oh, yikes. :grimacing:

I don’t book on TripAdvisor at all; I’m not even a legal adult yet.

However, thank you for informing me beforehand. I will take that into mind for a future referencing if I or my family is traveling.
