What was this embroidery themed drama?

I saw it ages ago and can’t remember much. There was a very old established embroidery house & educational center that a family owned and ran. A woman who was part of the family went missing (can’t remember why) and ended up living covertly and unobtrusively in a different area. I’m pretty sure it was Korean. It’s bad that I can’t even remember the language. I think I half watched it and my life was crazy then. I’d really like to watch it again. They show a LOT about embroidery and it was really cool to learn about. They had competitions in the drama. The woman also has an ancient piece of embroidery. Anyone know what this is?

Isn’t the Kdrama you mean Jang Bori? That is the first one that popped into my head. Really liked that drama.

Yesss! Thank you!! I’m so happy. I even bought a beginner embroidery kit I’ve been doing, lol. It’s not a super popular mainstream kind of drama but I loved how they developed the characters slowly and also the crafting. I always thought of embroidery as kind of twee and humdrum before stupidly and this enlightened me that it is truly an art and has so much history. Especially in Korea, China and Japan & I’m sure other countries. I’ve got it on my list now and can’t wait to watch again. So glad you liked it too and could tell me the name. Thanks!

It was the most popular kdrama at that time in Korea and I believe that it was popular on Viki too.

Oh. Shows how much I know. I watched it after that time and must have made the assumption it wasn’t that popular. Shows you shouldn’t make assumptions, haha. I"m glad it was popular as it deserved to be. So I’ll just shut up now and watch.

I watched the Chinese version of the drama. There is a debate going on of which of the versions is better. I actually only watched the Chinese version, not knowing there was a Korean one. And after reading some of the discussions, I decided it was okay to completely skip the Korean one :smile_cat: (I really need all the time I can get to catch up on some Sageuks K-historical dramas
