It’s taken me too long, but finally, I have signed up to a Viki subscription for the coming year.

I’ve come from the other place which is where I first got into K-drama. In the last year, or more, they’ve really broken the contract, buying in fewer and fewer KTV show and fobbing of viewers with very dated Japanese dramas.

So, I would very much welcome any suggestions other user might have.

I enjoy thrillers, Josean epics, and quirky stuff. Here’s a top ten of shows I’ve watched and really enjoyed.

Btw, I keep a note of my viewing on IMDB and so far, that stands at close to 100 Korean titles. My top choices include …

For Quirky, I would recommend:
Sweat and Soap
This is, hands down, the quirkiest drama I have watched on Viki. It is so over-the-top, it is hilarious! That said, the main lead couple is communication GOALS.

Other Quirky Dramas:
Family Matters
Lovely Runner- quirky, but also probably the hottest K drama of recent times
Perfect Marriage Revenge
Not Really Quirky, but solid recent dramas:
Love Scout
Family By Choice

For Boys Love:
Love In The Big City
This is a fantastic drama exploring one man’s journey and his relationships. By far, probably the best drama exploring LGBT on Viki. If you like it, you can also check out the Film version. Both works are based on the same source material

The Eighth Sense
Excellent production. Probably the most artistic BL series on Viki.

See Your Love
This BL is very heartwarming and fun. It has all of the Taiwan rom com tropes, so expect some silliness, but it is totally worth it for the emotional payoff later on. Drama is unique in that one of the Male Leads is deaf.

Not sure when you left Viki, but this came last year after being unavailable on most legitimate sites for years. It’s a must-watch for Korean Historical dramas.

I’m not always good at making recommendations since everyone’s taste is so different. But based on your request, a couple dramas immediately came to mind:

My Dearest (on Viki): I don’t know if it has enough episodes to be considered an “epic,” but it certainly includes some interesting Joseon-era history and some gripping storylines.

Inspector Koo (on the “N” platform, which many of your top list are on): A fun mix of thriller and quirky comedy.
