Just because there wasn’t an extremely explicit explanation that met your need for detail doesn’t mean there wasn’t one at all, and it’s incorrect and a bit sarcastic to say that an explanation came “after a year.” However, while you were writing this reply, I took the time to send you the results of your GE form via Viki Inbox, results that I didn’t think I needed to send anymore since the EEA was no longer applicable.

I completely agree with table122000! Why can’t we improve the subs, including adding song translations after the drama has been posted. Any viewer who wants to can wait to watch the drama until they are subbed by a translation team.
This is so discouraging for those of us who have put our hearts into editing subs for years and years! Is there a way to communicate our opinions to VIKI admin?

I understand where you are coming from, and I also hope that one day we can see the English Editor training return, but if Viki’s current practices of delayng and even refusing to let volunteers work on the projects continues, I very much doubt it.
I agree with you that GEs are a valuable resource and make solid contributions to both viewer experience and assisting OLs. You are correct that it takes a full team of TE, GE and CE to provide the best viewer experience and the work is complementary. I wish all volunteers could see that. One of the issues I have is the refusal by some volunteers to use English General Editors for the projects, My biggest fear was always that we would train the new GEs and then those new volunteers would not be able to participate because some CEs and CMs would not use them on their teams. In my opinion, there are current GEs not being utilized, and this may get worse if Viki continues its current practices.

I did consider applying for the CE training program before the EEA program was cancelled. I fear that you may be correct and that going forward, anyone still interested in being an English editor will need to apply for a CE position if current practices by Viki continue. I have noticed lately with the new dramas that Viki is either forbidding English Language and Segmenting Teams altogether, or restricting English and Segmenting Teams to doing the OST only. I did notice that dramas where the English and Segmenting Teams are OST only, there is just 1 person for each position. So, not really a “team” anymore. There seems to be 1 Segmenter and then 1 English Editor who is a Translation Editor. I’m quite surprised at only 1 Segmenter, since Segmenting Teams normally always have multiple people. For English Editing, I keep hoping that we can still have viable teams with multiple people, but I guess if things continue, we will be lucky to see a CE working with one TE and one GE working on the OST. It is just a very sad situation, and one I still do not understand why it must happen.

Ohhh so this is why I see some dramas quickly have 100% swedish subtitles. I was so confused. Like who translated this fast. I will check out the translation but im pretty sure it has errors or sounds weird.
