Add black borders to hardsubbed drama

I have noticed that in some hard subbed dramas there sometimes are black borders (like wide screen) on the top and bottom so that the newly added subs appear in the black empty space and not in the direct screen, thus not stacked on top of the already existing subs.

Is that a feature that already comes with the video or is there a way to add them to an episode/drama to make it easier for the viewer to see?

Most of the times it’s because the drama is not licensed yet by viki, so it’s a video that comes from youtube, dailymotion… I don’t think there is a way to remove the black borders since the uploader is not viki.

oh ok, I wasn’t too sure how that worked but it seems you’re right since they are usually imported videos
