It’s called a bush baby, I think, and is native to sub-Saharan Africa.

I got one too and use it if I have more people at home but mostly I use it for my nettle infusions  Besides some nice ones cost also around 40$. The downside with dripping and french press coffee is that there is no foam :coffee: :hushed:

“Nuova Nespresso Inissia” sounds like just the thing for having friends over for lunch or making lunch at work less boring.

Switzerland sure is a ritzy, tasty, and historical place to spend time. Land of John Calvin (Geneva, the Protestant Reformation) . . .

Standing and fangirling somewhere with your mug of coffee in one hand, your choccy snax in the other? If so, most favored among ex-pats are you!

(Fangirls can give the “Chocolate Abs” badge, but I think they should get it under certain circs as well.)

It’s the hype for some time, some have even 2 different kinds also with the fresh ground coffee beans. Also whether at home or outside, folks don’t really use mugs like in the US, it’s usually a nice ceramic cup or expensive china cup with a saucer or the expresso size cup with a saucer…

You listed quite lots of things from Switzerland, Chocolate, Swiss cheeses, Watches and Skiing used to be the landmark, if still some think so.

And Jan Hus was a Czech Reformer, the Catholics burnt him and his followers in Constance, Germany as he was a heretic for them and there were Swiss Reformers Zwingli and Calvin. - I used to work in Geneva very long time ago. Later moved to US.

There is a Rolex Museum in Biel, I haven’t visited, but mom said it was very interesting! There are actually 8 watch museums

Some years ago even Yoon Sang Hyun was a Travel Ambassador and visited many Swiss places… he was much younger then… :joy:

You are so funny, my favorites are Champagne Truffles, Ive seen them selling at the Teuscher (a Swiss chocolatier) in NYC, otherwise I just like dark chocolate…

Champagne truffles :exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation::exclamation:

Wow.

Growing up in a relatively small city in the Southern United States, I ate a lot of Moon Pies, marshmallow filling on top of a cookie dipped in chocolate. At 7-Eleven stores. They were not available in some places during the summer because of the heat.

I was a fool for Hershey’s Milk chocolate until I got to college and discovered that folks in the larger city where the college was ate such amazing things as Lindt truffles. I did not find out about Toblerone until LAST YEAR.

Teuscher sounds like a dream! Do they ship? Would they mind if I live under their display table?

As a sugar addict of long standing, I must admit I’ll eat almost anything, but the tradition is a regular Moon Pie and an RC Cola. Not available where I live. :disappointed_relieved:

I believe they do but will cost, Teuscher is even in Zurich expensive, but they do their own cute crafted packing.

But you could also check VanOtis in New Hampshire, I know the Owner and they had a Swiss chocolatier there to develop new items. The most liked is the Swiss Fudge checkout the selection, they do ship as well.

Btw I made once (long time ago) truffles with Hersheys chocolate (a dark one) and organic cocoa with some schnaps, hmmm you can only dream :yum::yum::yum:

That gif you posted some time back, expresses my reaction to the above :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I tried my darndest to wait to catch up on this thread while everyone crashed, or was out busy with everyday must get done things :eyes: :eye::eye::wink::+1:t5:
Looks like I succeeded. I cannot stop laughing, snickering, bust out laughing, while alternately stiffiling another outburst, all the while wiping away :sob: tears of laughter.
This thread has a life of it’s own. (θ‿θ)ʘ‿ʘ(◠‿◕)

It seems like all the heart-donors have obtained the badges of their dreams, so this thread is lacking a bit of love at the moment :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

This video was made from my favorite TV show when I was 8 years old, I was practically glued to the screen. I just looked up some information about it, and it was only once a month, …
But I have so many vivid memories about it.

Your truffle recipes sound wonderful, but I have a fear of schnapps.

Several years ago, one Friday night after a bad week at work, I stopped at the liquor store for “something different” and got a very small sample bottle of a kind of schapps called 99 Blackberries.

“How cute is that?,” I thought. “That’s like ‘99 Luftballons,’ and I love blackberries!”

I did a lot of projects at home that weekend, and by Saturday night, all I wanted to do was get in bed and go to sleep. So, as the expression goes in English, I “knocked back a slug” of 99 Blackberries to de-stress, and BAM!

I thought I had swallowed gasoline by mistake. I immediately poured the rest of the bottle down the drain and drank a cup of tea, but it was too late.

I felt as if I had been hit on the head with a brick. I could barely drag myself upstairs to go to bed, and when I woke up the next morning, my head hurt sooooo much.

I went to church and sat through the worship service praying the whole time, “Dear Jesus, please just KILL ME NOW!” And it ocurred to me at some point during Sunday school that the 99 on the schapps label meant that it was 99 proof.

Lesson learned. I stick to beer, European-made, not American-made (and NOT served cold).

That song was the moment I became ‘aware’ of music. I was about 7~8 yrs old when it was played on Top of the Pops, a weekly music chart rundown TV show aired in the UK. It’s really weird because I can’t recall even a fragment of any songs prior to that yet I could remember the tune and the lyrics to this song vividly. It’s as if a function to recognising music was suddenly activated, it was all or nothing. Which begs the question what in the world had I been listening to in all that time of watching that show or listening to the radio? Silence by the sounds of it!:hushed:

I was always surrounded by music in my early years, the radio was always on, we had no tv before I was 5 and that one was a hand-me-down as you say to clothes given from one child to the other, so was it with this tv. It would run 15 minutes and then its tube would get hot and black and out. So it was good for the news and for “Sandmännchen”, the children’s goodnight story brought by the sandman.
I remember a lot of stuff from the early 70’s even I was a toddler at that time and 60’s and 50’s music that would often go on air. 1979 was the year I discovered rock music for me with Sweet, AC/DC and KISS and many others … But I still liked disco, funk, soul, r&b, …

Great spirits above! 99proof divide by 2 = 49.5% alc./vol ! You know that’s not far off the CDC recommended 60% alcohol hand sanitiser to KILL the virus!
At the last leaving do in our dept for a colleague who had retired I had one of those alcopops with only something like 4.7%acl./vol and my head went bright red :rage: and it was so noticeable that on 3 occasions other staff came up to me to ask if I was ok as I looked like my head was about to burst under pressure like a red thermometer! :joy:
I would suck big time at those soju/sake swigging scenes in dramas.

I don’t know, I’m not an expert, but drinking tea right after was not a good move, it only made for more trouble.
There’s are do’s, and don’ts when it comes to drinking tea.

As I understand it, makgeolli is actually a beneficial beverage like kombucha or kefir, so I would love to try that. Nepali culture has a similar drink made from rice. Sweet potato soju as I understand it has some baked-in hangover protection since sweet potatoes contain vitamin C.

Come to think of it, so do other things on a Korean banquet table, kimchi being one of them.

In any culture, the people most likely to suffer from any traditional “ethnic” alcoholic merry-making are bound to be those who are too poor, too sick, or too old to buy or make the proper number of healthful side and main dishes.

Here’s a sure indicator in my book of the need for Korean side dishes: if it tastes good, it’s obvs Korean; if it tastes really good, it’s got something your body needs. I know I don’t get enough vitamin C at all; If I buy a quart jar of kimchi at Wegman’s, the American Tesco, it’s gone in twenty minutes.
