Woah my last comment was long lol. its just, you had so many good points…
lol korean dramas and their sucky endings they need to give more happy ones, cuz if they know how to start it amazingly, they should know how to end it.
Jung Il Woo is one the few actors who’s made me cry (a lot) usually it’s more like wow, sad - moving on now
I don’t know how to work the quote thing so here goes:
I remember watching him in Flowerboy Ramyun Shop - honestly it didn’t leave much of an impression on me. It was cute and everything, and he was cute as the spoiled rich brat, but I don’t remember which one I saw first, but I remember thinking - was he really in there? I think that was when I watched him in TMTETS and couldn’t believe he was the same actor. For me, the character “Scheduler” was definitely my favourite.
I’m not sure (i have seen tons of dramas over the past few years) but when I really love an actor in a drama, I tend to see if they did more dramas and look them up (I think I did that with TMTETS - after having my heart broken with that last scene T_____T, I wanted to see if he’d done more dramas - he had - 49 days was among them, I decided to give it a shot… The rest you know)
If I think about it, I’ve seen him die 3 times already T.T
I don’t remember the ost song from 49 days, but now I kinda wanna hear it
And I’m sorry to break the news, but I highly doubt he’ll do a comedic drama (I wish he would, spoiled rich brat suited him) the drama he did recently - The NightWatchman’s Journal (historical drama) with him there’s a 50-50 chance
I’m glad your jk but I do agree on the adorable and handsome part (maybe it’s the haircut? I have this haircut-bias where every actor with a decent haircut always gets my vote- that’s why even though LMH’s character in BOF was great - I couldn’t stand rooting for him because of the perm, and then KJH suddenly decided to chop of the long hair , and my opinion about him took a 180° turn /./)
Didn’t they though? Since she only had 5 days left, she got to keep her memory and spend some time with her loved one (I would have hated it if they’d erased her memory and she’d gone back to the jerk)
We should have seen it coming - reading even one review should have been enough to prepare us for heartbreak T____T Like, the ending was sad - of course that’s what they’re going to do. Even her job was to collect tears, maybe she was fulfilling her job by filming this drama and then collecting the audience’s tears
That’s why I was rooting for her and the Scheduler to be together, even more , because I actually thought it was a possibility. I mean, then, even if she becomes a ghost or whatever , he’s dead anyway so they might as well become a shinigami couple or a scheduler couple for all I care (this kinda reminds me of Full Moon wo Sagashite). Jung Il Woo ~~~
Even if you don’t watch that particular episode with Jung Il Woo know that he does die (again) T.T
-> here it is then, read at own warning, SPOILER
So, there’s Hwang Jung Eum (HJE) who has had this dog Heli for years. Heli suddenly runs away from her, and she’s freaking out about it. So when she goes to find Heli (with her new love interest, Lee Ji Hoon) she knows where to look, a house tons of kms away where Heli was born. She remembers the first day she met Heli, when Heli (as a puppy) ran up to her on the street, and Jung Il Woo ran after her. They met, got to know each other. He told her about his dreams to travel the world, she totally fell for him.
Then one day she reads a note on which he wrote I’ll be going away, take care of Heli for me.
She’s brokenhearted and thinks he abandoned here.
Then when she gets Heli back and they go back to their house we see what truly happened through Heli’s eyes. We see that JIW was the one who asked puppy Heli to run up to HJE because he really liked her, and wanted to talk to her. We learn that he has a life-threatening disease and has to take severe pain meds, and then while he’s writing that note to her “I’ll be going away for a while” he tells Heli that it’s true anyways, he will actually be going away. And then eventually Heli finds him lying on the floor. —
The day Heli ran back to her house was the day he died. -> She still doesn’t nor ever finds out that he actually died, and still thinks he just left.
So yeah, feeling depressed after seeing this would be an understatement T___________________________________T
I cried so much when I saw this episode, reading it you might still be okay, but ever seeing it it won’t leave your mind.
Thank you, and don’t worry I think with my last comment yours will bleak in comparison /./
and yes, another point we agree on, it’s like the more awesome a drama is the less likely a good ending should be expected , it will bleak in comparison/be rushed/open ended or plain bad.
With being able to count the exceptions on one hand it is quite sad
agree agree with everything you just said. its so true, you cant expect much on a great drama, or you shouldnt, which is funny to say.
i feel the same T.T i could easily recover from anything else, but not jung il. he has such great emotion in his acting.plus, lots of his roles are adorably nice yet humble and charming-ly funny and makes you take pity on them. the only other dramas that made me cry hard was “can you hear my heart” because of a sad part in there (but its truly a fantastic and good drama, not sad like, even some comedy) and MIMI (now that was sad T.T) have you ever watched either? but yea anyways, no actor has made me cry like that. ever. scenes make me cry, not actors. MIMI was hard to move on from tho, cuz it was kind of like 49days, except, spoilerat least the guy didnt end up alone, and at least they got to kiss before she went and both liked eachother
lol its okay. you just highlight a sentence and when “quote reply” comes up you click on it.
for me i saw FBRS first so xD but the 1st time i saw him was in “my fair lady”
and i just knew i had to watch all his roles. it wasnt a depressing role, but a very charming, laid back 1. but sadly he was second lead anyways, he stole my heart since then and i watched almost everything he was in because i saw his amazing skills, plus his face xD
him being the scheduler definitely was the most deep. i plan on watching him in “golden rainbow”, though i plan to watch that wayy later since it has 40 episodes (or was it 30? idk), and i have too many to watch right now.
squints eyes in fear okay, here we go:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALGL0WLHj8g
oh my heart… ouch… the memories… the lyrics are too sad because it goes tottally with his charater in there and his relationship with the girl. :.( LOL btw LOL this tottally became a jun il woo topic xD we should make a topic just for him and blab there all we want lol.
i think they would put him in at least 1 more comedic role in the future, but as for now, i dont see it coming.
yesssss! i tottally agreeeee. its the awesome hair and the pretty boy look xD but, i never really loved lee min ho like everyone else like that, i like him, but not a big fan like everyone else is, so i was always rooting for khj, whether he cut his hair or not
i dont know, i just didnt see it. i cant/couldnt see anything positive about that ending.i mean, all i knew there was some sort of sad end from everyone telling me before hand, because all i heard from others was “its sad but good”. but i just never had myself prepared for THAT SAD and devastating. especially jung il woo’s part and the fact that every single piece of wrong happened in this show for every character. i did tho, see the possibility of her and scheduler coming together since they would be both dead anyways, at least THAT, and it didnt happen so… yea, majorly pissed and forever trauma. at least, MIMI had 1 tiny part of the end that was positive. still T.T
HAHAHA so true!
OH GOD NO. why? like why life? why?
that is too freakin sad and i cant watch him die no more, thats a really sad story. your right, seeing it would make it even WORSE for me, i still havent got over his other deaths, as i saw them both just a couple of months ago.
i think i would pass out. that would definitley be an understatement. omg that is so sad i feel so bad now T.T they need to stop killing him off :.(((((((((
You are being kind my friend. The guy was too old to be still playing a school boy. I’m annoyed that it won 2013 award as a drama it did not deserve it and a few others last year were much better. I hazard a guess it was just because of the two pretty boys…aaaah not a good reason.
I watched Flower Boy Next Door while Prime Minister & I was airing cause I had 2nd lead syndrome so bad. Since his character was totally different, it didn’t help soothe me at all, though.
Me too. Too many adults playing teenagers. If you like eye candy check out the beauty in ‘Glory Jane’ Lee Min Ho did a much better job in ‘Personal Taste’ than ‘Heirs’. He was even younger when he played the great warrior in ‘Faith’ and did a better job.
omg, im so scared as to how “glory jane” will end but i havent gotten there yet. im only up to 21! when i finish it, i will answer your other post (where you told me you finished it.
How many episodes are there altogether?
Okay so I’m glad I found someone who didn’t like Secret Garden. It took me forever to watch that drama, I just never understood all the hype around it. The reason I watched it was because so many people had seen it and always talked about it. I thought maybe something was wrong with me cause I didn’t see what they were seeing. I also had the same thought about Full House, I skipped most of the episodes.
there are 24 episodes xD
Okay, I understand how to use the quote reply thing so here goes ^^
True, so very true. I have seen my fair number of sad episodes but it’s like Jung Il only takes roles that will emotionally stir you T.T
I know can you hear my heart, though I on-holded it like forever ago (around ep10) I really should try and see if I can start watching this again ^^ I remember how glad i was that I got through the young age part of the show (It’s really difficult for me to watch them because i don’t feel as if the drama’s started yet, I’m just seeing them ramble on and on about the bg story until they finally grow up and the real story starts)
I know about Mimi but didn’t know it was sad (Changmin<3 I remember thinking OMG when I saw him in Paradise Farm) really, so handsome >.< No matter his handsomeness though if it’s that sad, I’m gonna avoid it. Like I’ve been avoiding that drama 1Litre of tears -.-
I know! Me too!! I’d completely forgotten he was even in it, I remember going on a post-drama must watch more of this actor thing I have whenever I see a really good actor (handsomeness helps) in one drama and want to see him in more dramas, I don’t remember which drama made me look up Jung Il Woo but I was shocked to see he was in My Fair Lady, I had this vague memory of him (and only thinking, cut, but focusing on the main couple)
Well, if I think about it I’ve basically seen everything he’s in as well (and yeah - amazing skills+good looks) except High Kick Through the Roof S1 (I’m kinda scarred by the second season though I doubt it has such a terrible ending)
You’re so right - OMG, as I’m listening it’s sounding familiar, I keep picturing him on a chair with a guitar in his hands (oh no T____T) 49 days drama recurrence happening
Ikr! I’ve honestly not given this much thought to Jung Il Woo except for my post-drama depression of me wanting to slap him for dying (which as you know has happened 3 times already!!!) again T____T
I don’t either, but his role in the Nightwatchman’s Journal is kinda comedic (in a historical drama sense kinda thing)
It’s honestly KdramaLand’s fault for teaching me the word FlowerBoy, it’s like risen my expectations for my future husband T.T
I get what you mean, but I’ve basically seen every LMH drama (surprisingly unknowingly but his dramas are always fussed about so much that you have no choice but to start) and they’ve all turned into hits (kinda) though they start getting draggy sometimes (like The Heirs - I didn’t really mind the drama, since it was supposed to be Gossip Girl like or whatever - but Park Shin Hye kinda pissed me off, I wish she was more - well, her character was more… Well, anything more than that) - maybe one who knew how to kick YoungDo’s behind instead of being played around with.
Omgosh!! same! i kept hearing, it’s sad but it’s a good ending - I was more like WTH?! come on!!! 20 hours of dramathoning and you’re gonna do this to me
Tbh though I don’t remember being devastatedly shocked - I remember thinking it was sad and everything, but right now I can’t think of more feelings that come up to me when I think about the ending - I just see the SPOILER LongLostSister+ NewBFpersonSheLoves at the gravesite or a tree or sty putting down flowers, honestly that ending made me want to slap the writers more for not coming up with something more… Well, something more
What about making the girl a Scheduler - and then making her take care of her new love’s 49days tears journey (that would also have become a totally different story) Or like showing two babies at the end representing the rebirth of the girl and the scheduler?
Omgosh - I’m getting more and more ideas that they could have done, but chose not to/or didn’t think of T.T
IKR!! But, the drama he’s doing now is a HIStorical drama of all things, chances of the hero dying rise like 50%-70% by this fact alone, please no T.T
They really do, even though KSH was in TMTETS, Jung Il Woo was the one I was rooting for throughout and SPOILER in the end he pretended to be on the opposing side and then took a sword for his brother, the heartbreak - the tears
In 49 days it’s the sad love story of wanting to give SPOILER his gf a ring and then getting in an accident after just having fought about him being too much of a player
Then the one I told you about - it seems as though the writers didn’t want him to find true love T___T
It really is funny to say - because the greater a drama starts you just want the ending to be perfect , anything below falls short in some ways
because My Love From The Star was the first drama I was watching in real time, I was scared for that to happen, but I’m so glad it didn’t disappoint.
ikr?!! it’s funny but sad and true all at once…
@ger_o_malley omgosh, now that you have seen glory jane, you can see can you hear my heart!!
only if you want to that is, you probably have lots of dramas you want to see to, im not forcing you xD wink wink nudge nudge
lol no really, its just that its really good, xD when you get a chance to watch it on your spare time, please dont forget to tell me xD
you really should O.O i put some episodes of it on hold for a couple days, since i was busy with so many other dramas, and when i came back to it, i felt so dumb that i wasnt hooked sooner!
i feel sooooo the same! i kinda hate that when they do that with kdramas, because, you either get hooked to the little kids, (like i did in i miss you), or your rolling your eyes screaming at the screen to hurry up and transform into beautiful hotties! (if i came for the guy actors, lolololol), but in this one, i didnt mind at all, i think both roles were really really well played, but of course i like when they are grown, better xD.
i always wanted to watch paradise farm with changmin… never could find it anywhere, and didnt really know if it was a full drama.
tottally agree with you 100% on the handsome thing and on avoiding the sad stuff like a plague T.T you and me are so alike with our weak hearts lol xD
though the story was very good in mimi, it reminded me of 49 days too much, so my soft spot in my heart that i was trying to bandage up collapsed. lol it had a TAD bit happier end tho.
omg u saw jun il first in my fair lady too!!!? woohoo!!
omg i do the same thing! i see their amazing cuteness (i know i know, acting ability toooo), and always go “OKAY! WHERE IS HE AS A MAIN LEAD? MUST FIND. NOW. ALL HIS ROLES.”
LOL sorry to bring that back mannn… i know how THAT feels… geez dramas, must you kill us??
im telling you right now, in the future, if i dont have a flower boy husband… IF I DONT HAVE A FLOWER BOY HUSBAND…!!!
LOL.
HAHAHAH Me too! the “his dramas are always fussed about that you have to watch it” omg, understatement of the world. x.D i do like him tho, and see where they are getting at, he is a cutey with great acting roles, he’s had great dramas. still havent changed my mind about my opinion tho xD i liked young do’s character allot, but yea, she shoulda kicked him in the shins. and she shouldnt have avoided kim tan so much either, even if it was risking their houses or whatever, cuz, thats love, right? but well its not her fault that her character was written like that xD
girrrlll, i know. its either sad, or good. THATS IT.
next time i see a “sad or good” review, i know when to run.
and yea, its okay that you didnt feel devastated everyone has different reactions and their own views on it. maybe if you rewatch it later on in life, you will feel that O.O if not, its okay too. the main thing was THAT DRAMA WAS SAD. (understatement).
I just see the SPOILER LongLostSister+ NewBFpersonSheLoves at the gravesite or a tree or sty putting down flowers, honestly that ending made me want to slap the writers more for not coming up with something more… Well, something more
LOL i was so dumbfounded with the writers to on that i felt the same. like what in the heck?!
both those ends wouldve tottally made more sense. you need to get paid for this LOL.
agreeeed. T.T
they are giving him the WORST stories ever lol. come 'er jung il!! we’ll be your true loves!!
ROFLOL. Hilarious!! Actually, it seems like either he chooses those roles or they choose him. He’s so good in them. I know it’s heartbreaking, but just wait a while, I’m sure it’ll shift, even it only changes as he ages.
It’s top of my list now and will be starting it soon as ‘Fated’ finishes up thursday I will use that space to finally get a marathon in of ‘Can you hear my heart’. Will get back to you on my progress. I have loved ‘Fated’ and am a devoted fan of ‘Glorious Day’ plus ‘It’s Ok that’s love’. Temptation is OK, I 'll stick with it to the end have a few thoughts on it and am curious enough to see what the writer makes of the storyline. What else are you watching? I’ve been on vacation so have a few episodes of my dramas to catch up on, that will take me a couple of days.
I accept your 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
I don’t want to watch Temptation unless it has a decent ending. A New Leaf was a painful experience. Can you send me a pm with a spoiler when it’s done airing, please?
