Hi Mary, still here. I planted beginning March carrots, radishes, later peas, spinach and lettuce.
I have it covered in folie tunnel and it’s growing nicely except for the spinach…
I have in a small greenhouse and planted seeds of some flowers, so far only Cosmea is growing, then red and white kohlrabi, and red and white larger radishes similar to daikon just smaller, lettuce and tomatoes.
We had some nice warm days but this week is chilly again. In April I want to plant potatoes and have to look what else in April to plant… oh I got more strawberry plants at Aldi I want to plant in larger container… I’m running out of garden beds space…
Garlic and onions planted last October are getting really big… I can’t wait to harvest some soon!
I repotted 2 weeks ago my Orchids, they also needed a bath
What plants do you think to plant, Mary? @frustratedwriter
OH MY look at you!, well my weather hasnt been “kind” of late, but I did plant some moon flowers, I do plan to get my pots and plant some tomatoes, cucumbers, thought I’d try some squash, also some herbs. Just have to wait a bit for it to warm up.
anyone else here?? also has anyone tried the water(hydroponic?) planting? I am also going to try that too.
My pothos is doing great,(in water) spider plants too, still haven’t done the herbs yet, but do plan to this month.
Sim 11 check other links, I am working on it…
alrighjt, lets get with it, you folks in other countries, I do want to hear from you about your planting and stuff!
OMG, your seedlings are so big… you are so lucky My red small radishes are ready to be planted outside, but it’s cold and rainy this week… I’m not lucky with peppers and tomato I’m still hopefull.
I take pics next week! And sadly Im never lucky with physalis… I try again! But carrots are sprouting in garden bed and the tiny snails are tasting my radishes already…
Wow they are already open… my tulips and daffodils are just sprouting flower buds, I planted last fall and primulas are everywhere it’s like a carpet in all colors, they reseed themselves so easily!
I found another link, sorta like trash to treasure, can find it on YT or FB cant put it on Viki.
using those tin cans we throw away as pots, the guy does paint them. Looks really neat
Beautiful photos. I love tropical houseplants, but I have three cats and spend a lot of time trying to keep plants and cats apart. I have had a rubber tree for years but did not know until last year that it is not good for cats to chew on the leaves.
I have a tabby cat that is seven months old and is obsessed with my rubber tree. He will not leave it alone unless I put bits of orange peel in the pot. He also loves to chew on a Christmas cactus (a rather large one), a philodendron, and a pothos.
This is how high I have had to place a pothos plant to keep it out of harm’s way:
You have a cute cat Could it be that the cat is bored and does it for attention? Perhaps some toys and those mouse toys could distract him from chewing the plants, that’s just an idea. Luckily my cat never chew on my plants but loved dry cat nip pillows or little of that loose herb, it drove him wild, lol.
Interesting link Mary, currently I’m not sure, I have place to put more house plants, my apartment is much smaller now… But I think I will get Aloe Vera and that spider plant for my bedroom. I have the mother-in-law’s tongue from my mother I once divided, but it’s getting so tall and it’s getting crowded. And then my about 6 orchids, money plant and the jadetree succulent. Most of them I need to repot this month!
I found this today and thought someone would be interested in growing flowers in water. I also am experimenting. I would love to hear if any of you tried this method.
@frustratedwriter Mary, the downside is the frequent water changes to prevent bacteria growth, I did some water rooting with rosemary, basil and sweet potato. I got a set to make macrame place holders for glass bowl for plants to hang up… it’s a project for May. Also we have quite hard water here, so after some days the calcium sticks to the glass and it’s hard to remove… Unless I get a Britta filter, perhaps that would help and the hydroponic feed is def a good idea…
My former bank manger had a big glas vase filled with water and there was a Betta fish and on top a plant that rooted in water… she said it was a gift. I have never seen such elsewhere…
I know there is a system with fish tanks and hydroponics and the water keeps circling… the fishwater would feed the plants something like that…
Three Weeks later, the lemon trees are outside, but the tomatoes, bell peppers and sweet chilis are still in the greenhouse and they are growing so fine
It’s amazing how everything is awakening. But my tulips and daffodils are done blooming, as for blueberries only my Mayberries have bloomed, those are from Siberian Altai and have long blueberry alike fruits.
My grape vine started showing buds and my black cherry little tree is blooming!! I hope for a handful cherries later… Strawberries blooming too and I harvested red radishes as well…
After several dry weeks, we got the rain that was needed. At my neighbors potatoes have leaves but my peppers and zucchinis are still in the greenhouse, I gave up with tomatoes sprouting. Next Saturday is at my place a plant market, so I get them there. I so wanted the black Crimea tomato!!
Btw I haven’t seen lilac blooming yet, you are quite lucky, purple lilac is NH’s state flower which was first imported in 1750 from England to Portsmouth (couldn’t resist to mention after my long stay there)
