Try the github version. I haven’t gotten around to updating the package. Japanese should work like any other language.
In case the message in the following thread makes anyone uneasy, just remember that you can always read the source code of MoST or ask someone to read it for you.

The extension wasn’t working for me, but I think updating Chrome did the trick! Thank you for making this happen. I was thinking the other day: “How cool would it be if I could watch my show in both English and Japanese?” (Learning JA). And sure enough, there was a way to do it! 
Now, if they could offer Japanese subtitles for all the Japanese shows I’m watching…
