So glad I had some people to ride that roller coaster with. What a great drama! I’ll wait to put my final thoughts until later, after more people have had a chance to watch it, so that I don’t have to blur everything out.
The ending is too rushed in my opinion, anyway I liked it for several reasons.
Feel bad I didn’t make it to your watch party @kdrama2020ali. I was passed out cold by then. LOLs
But I’m watching the finale now over a pot of extra strong coffee. Can’t wait!
I completed the series. I’ll say it deserves Daesangs.
From make-up artists to screenwriter to actors to cameramen to everyone.
Just the last 5 minutes were too rushed but I won’t make that affect rest 11.95 episodes. I am satisfied, I can rest in peace now. These are the kind of dramas I like.
Oh by the way, did anyone notice this?
Look at “Happiness”… it’s fading away. Even the poster designer deserves an award for his creativity and use of metaphor in such a great way.
OMG! I didn’t realize that at all!!!
But I did just finish the finale and WOW! You really don’t know how it ends until it does.
But it makes sense that there was another person in the building with antibodies. The Lt. Colonel was actually smart to just let the quarantine go on for so long, mutating the virus and other people building up immunity (or antibodies, if that’s a more appropriate term).
I agree with this wholeheartedly. But I bet if the writers and directors and producers had done any more, we probably would’ve had a second season. They could have elaborated on topics such as the trial, developing the cure without Bom, the little girl’s surgery and her mother’s recovery, but the implied sense that life goes back to normal if okay here.
After all, we’re all just after a little bit of Happiness.
‘HAPPINESS’ Han hyoju & Park hyngsik’s Chemistry Q&A
This interview is too cute not to watch! So many feels!!! I’m going to miss these two. Hope they do more on screen together in the future.
Now the big question for me is…
What do I watch next? I’m already working my way through Dating in the Kitchen, though the FL isn’t really my cup of tea.
I’ve also added Psychologist to my watchlist and While You Were Sleeping is in there too.
I’ve been meaning to try and watch The Red Sleeve, but historical/costume/period dramas just aren’t my thing. I’ve tried a lot to get through them, but I think the cultural references and allusions dissuade me since I don’t get them. Maybe if I watch it in a Watch Party? Not sure. Here are the ones I’ve tried to get behind, but failed miserably (not because they weren’t good, but I think the cultural and historical disconnect is stronger for me in period dramas):
- River where the moon rises
- Lovers of the red sky
- Ancient love poetry
- Aranthdale chronicles
- The scholar who walks the night
- Love in the moonlight
- The general and I
- Eternal Love
- Siege in Fog
(There are more, but that’s all I can think of at the moment.)
Here’s a list of the period dramas I actually liked:
Splash Splash Love
Arsenal Military Academy
The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Wow…I just ranted…so sorry people. I get like this when I end a drama that was so freakin awesome it’s hard to top.
I liked while you were sleeping, you may try it.
I didn’t watch the rest.
I had a DO lovefest with 100 Days My Prince! I loved it!
Chicago Typewriter is an 11 in my book! Long Ballad was good we just finished in a WP - FL in Dating In Kitchen was our fav 2nd Main lead couple. SEARCH is good & quick kind of like Happiness
I disliked Dating the the Kitchen. While You Were Sleeping was a ok watch good storyline not my fav romance - but “W” I love “W”
What genre are u looking for???
So my take on Happiness is a commentary on the Seven Deadly Sins!!! How the world and humanity react in a time of crisis and infection (look at the real world). This writer had a lot to say!!!
I wish Hyung had been shown at the end with his family - we got to see her partner. I wanted to know how the colonel’s wife ended up and their baby! Andrew dying still kills me - cuz how do you hate two hotties fighting over a gun (All thought we know the HOTTEST Hottie is SIKKIE!!!
I have so many thoughts in my head - this show was really poignant in some ways but so Happy at the end.
I did notice the Happiness fading - each time I watched it!!! What is true happiness??? Right??
Well, like Bom said, Home (Happiness) lies with a person, a person you love. It is not a place, nor money, nor status and prosperity. True happiness can only be found in people who love one another.
wow…How cliche is that? LOL But I loved the writer’s message. I think the fact that it came out right after COVID is perfect timing, because if we’re being honest, during world-wide lockdown people went kinda insane. Maybe this was meant to parody that insanity a bit.
I love that statement! Family and Friends are what it is all about - oh and my animals!
I do think this was definitely fitting and written for the times! Those people in that building were CRAY!
Aw and I forgot about gym guy - poor gym guy!!!
I will watch this again!
That gym guy is Louis in yumis cells.
Well… here’s your answer.
They always contradict each other, hahha.
I did not notice that, but it’s brilliant.
I never really got the sense that anything was overly rushed in the finale. The glimpses we saw of various things felt like enough for me to be satisfied. The only one missing was Hyung (The older cop). I would have liked to see a glimpse of his life back to normal. Seeing the little girl running gave me all the information I needed to know, to understand that things are really good in her life now. I didn’t need any more information about the disease or the cure because, again, for me, this story was ALWAYS about the people.
As I sit here rewatching episode 1, I see that at the police station they always made sure to have the WANTED posters in the background, the one with Andrew’s face on it!
Still hunting for more clues I missed the first time!
And I’m still blurring spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen every episode yet.
Yep - they zoomed in on that in one of the last eps!!!
Andrew’s Wanted Poster
I think it will be interesting to watch it again and try to pick up on clues now that we know all the ‘secrets’. I was wondering last night how my viewing may have been altered if I had gone through the drama assuming that Andrew was a bad guy, because I actually assumed, or at least strongly hoped, that he was a good guy.
