There is an older Korean series I’m interested in working on. For a long time it was unavailable, but it’s back since a few weeks. I sent a mail to the CM, which turned out to be the vikisubteam.
Reading the other discussions here I’m a bit afraid that I won’t get a response. Will it be like this for other channels as well?

Just be patient. Viki staff might receive plenty messages everyday. So, I guess they can’t reply right away. Maybe you will get an answer later if the drama isn’t translated in your language yet and you can be an OL moderator according to the guidelines.

The vikisubteam is an official staff account, so they should be available. I also remembered the other day I applied on another channel that has them as the cm and I didn’t hear anything back then. So I’m a bit afraid I won’t get the mod position.

I gave up writing to vikisubteam a long time ago as I have never received a response. I also heard second hand from people who would want to sub on an old channel for which I was Chief Editor that they had written to vikisubteam and no response came so they wondered if I would add them to the channel as subbers in languages other than English. I would apologize and say sorry, I could only add someone for the English subs but those were completed a long time ago. It would be great for newbies to add subs in unsubbed languages on the older “classic” Chinese and Korean content. I would not be surprised to learn that the customer support team has either the same or less personnel than was there ten years ago.

Yeah, I already thought so. It’s such a shame. The other day I saw another old series that had been away from Viki for a long time, but then I saw vikisubteam is the only contributor and it makes me not really wanting to rewatch it.
I had been thinking of just writing one of the OL mod’s. It’s good to know that won’t work.

I believe this is just a placeholder, much like those emails that are one-way communication only, and which would tell you “do not reply or email back to this address” kind of lingo. At this point, I too have no idea who we should contact if the channel CM is listed as “vikisubteam”

I was told when you have to deal with a channel (asking for being Co-CM, informing you finished to work on a channel he/she gave you, ecc) this is the person who could help you, @oriya

What is the process anyway? Recently, it seems that almost every Korean series/movie is handled by vikisubteam, and sometimes random translations appears, and some channels are handed over to different managers after a few months. But it would really help to know what’s going on with each channels in future. Should we just wait, or contact someone?
I am not sure. It seems like the vikisubteamchannels are taken over by Viki and they won’t allow volunteers to work on those channels. It’s not a good progress, really.
Twice, I’ve applied to work on a channel where vikisubteam is the CM and both times I didn’t get a response. I think for now we can only apply on channels where a volunteer is still the CM.

I did received an answer by FSL when I asked him/her (about my CM level) but I had to write more than once (sort of "First message - Second message - Third message, etc.) each day for a week and then I got the answer

In June, I messaged the Help Center to express my interest in becoming the Greek Moderator for the older drama City of Streamer, which is currently listed under “vkisubteam.”
In summary, they responded that “vkisubteam” is merely a temporary placeholder until a permanent Channel Manager is assigned. They advised me to wait until a new manager takes over to apply directly, or to reach out to the General Editor, General Segmenter, or All Language Moderator in the meantime, as they might be able to forward my request.
