I am interested

Hello,

You can contact Kamkar, one of the channel managers of this drama, if you are interested in editing it in English.
https://www.viki.com/users/kamkar1/overview

I am not competent in Korean to know if itā€™s better to re-sub it all or if it just needs editing.

Thanks for wanting to help!

The current situation of this drama to give a global idea to volunteers who want to give a hand:

16 ep
+1 h
7 parts
850-950 segments to check in timing and to edit / 1 ep

  1. Segmentation fixing: still working on this part
  • needs serious timing fixing (30-45 min to fix a part)
  • every subtitle timing needs to be checked because some are correct, some are really late and not in sync. Itā€™s all mixed.
  • missing segments

Iā€™m currently fixing the timing synchronisation. I did a long break (2 new channels licensed and real life workload is normally increasing from November until mid-May). Iā€™ve been trying to catch up since last week and Iā€™m focusing on it for the next two weeks to finish this segment fixing, so it should be more comfortable to watch subs in sync.
I have begun to do some basic English corrections, but I prefer to finish the segment fixing part first. I am more effective that way.

2.Subtitling

  • missing segments = missing subs (voices, texts that are necessary to the comprehension, previews, songs)
  • basic Korean conversations (dentist, architect; doctor, but specific terms are met very rarely the first half of this drama. The second half, Iā€™ll discover it soon).

=> need Korean-English subbers or a translation editor (around 30 subs missing per episode for the first part)

3.Editing

  • names that are changing, punctuation (absence sometimes), grammar
  • meaning sometimes is hard to understand.
  • incomplete subs for some subs (i.e. missing second part of the sentence or a consecutive sentence)

=> need a translation editor
=> a general editor

I am not competent in Korean to know if itā€™s better to re-sub it all or if it just needs editing, so Idk if we need translators for the whole show or just a team of a TE for around 30 missing subs/ep and all current subs and a GE.

From all this I understand that an English editor is the very last thing that you will need. I mean the last chronologically, not in importance!
A T-Editor is much more urgent right now, so why donā€™t you change the title of the thread to include that?

I have received ā€œIn reply to meā€ in my mailbox, but I am not the CM, nor the author of this thread, so I canā€™t change the title and I canā€™t recruit an editor, itā€™s not my decision to take.

The order is the order I wrote:

  1. segment fixing,
    (2. subbers if some want to)
  2. TE & GE.

The reality is finding someone (without mentioning a TE or a GE) seems complicated for any old drama and this drama seems not to be an exception to this general rule.
No much hope.
While waiting for the TE, I can correct basic English mistakes after fixing segments, thatā€™s all I can do and thatā€™s what I was allowed to do by the CM.

Since I joined, I havenā€™t seen anyone actually and this drama has been there since a few years on Viki, soā€¦ just my realistic side thinking that weā€™d wait for some moreā€¦

Youā€™re right about that. The CM should do it. Because it seems that a Korean person is the most urgent matter right now. The segments are slowly being done by you, but without a proper translation, how can it go further?
There are some people who have volunteered for Korean-English in the ā€œYou want to subtitleā€ thread. If this threadā€™s title was different they might see it and ask to be in the team. For someone new, an old drama is a good place to start.

Itā€™s better not to give false hope by saying that people will participate if they donā€™t finally participate (0).
Really, itā€™s more discouraging for volunteers who wait for other volunteers who will come help them but donā€™t see anyone.
I donā€™t know how they feel, but I sure know how I feel.

I donā€™t know Korean to judge any translation from a Korean-English subber who posted on these threads, so Iā€™m not the one who can decide this either and my role was well-defined since the beginning. I donā€™t want to be responsible for finding subbers who will translate something that is not reliable, I canā€™t know this. Thatā€™s the problem when youā€™re a new subtitler without a TE to ask to in the team.

@piranna Thank you for your segmenting and your effort for this drama!

I want to change the tiltle, but I donā€™t know how to.

Click on the little pencil on the right of the title. If you tell me how you want it, I can do it for you.

Yes, I clicked on it, but then everything I tried didnā€™t work. If you can change it then please replace English Editors with Translator Editors.

However, I dontā€™ understand why you can change the title when you didnā€™t make the post and I cannot.

I have title-changing privilege from Viki because of my contributions on Discussions so far.
But of course you as the author of the post should also be able to change it, this goes without saying. We cannot change the contents of our posts after a certain time, but we can always change our titles to add ā€œsolvedā€ or any other change. It must be a bug.
