Hi there,
I was recently planning to find someone to subtitle the 191 Japanese Astroboy 1960s B/W episodes and start a project via indiegogo or something. Then last night I stumbled onto the 52 Japanese Astroboy 1980s episodes on youtube, which has subtitles already. Refer: http://www.youtube.com/show/astroboynew/videos
Then, I did saw a reference to the youtube banner page a link to another website: http://www.viki.com/videos/191167v-astr … -episode-1. So it says, the sub was done by the Volunteer Channel Team: The Astro Boy Subbers! - written by people like us, if you want to help, contact the channel manager!
Who is the channel manager? How can I contact them?
Anyhow, in short… does anyone know if the 191 Japanese episodes were ever subtitled? I have them all on DVD, I paid $3000 USD for the 6 box sets, and I am about to rip them for safe keeping.
If they haven’t been subbed, how can we go about creating a new channel for these? Like the 1980s channel? Do we need to ask Tezuka Co. permission? Did the 1980s ask for their permission? I’m guessing they know about it, as it seems they own the YouTube channel and link to this website!
Who can help answer this? and would the The Astro Boy Subbers be interested in this project?
If access to the media is the only problem, once we confirm approval from Tezuka Co, I can provide this after I rip them, if we need approval? Who can help explain? I’m guessing the channel manager of the 1980s Astroboy episodes?
Also last Q - are the subs on the youtube channel the same as rhe ones on viki.com?
Thanks.
