Sudden character limit issue

I think it’s slowly the end of CM era, and Viki team will take it and manage it on their own according. As for limit, I think that their silence is more than enough to understand, they will not change a thing, it was someone idea and since they apply it to all dramas, it will not be changed. I don’t think Viki team think that we need an answer or explanation since so many people tag them and they still remain silent. For me Viki is changing more and more in money machine and it’s probably the thing that count for them. Looking through time and changes in IA, soon there will not be need for us contributors and subs will be so so, but for some it will be okay. And for Viki more beneficial since now contributors don’t pay for account, and if it would change it’ll be more money for them after all. I don’t know if it will change or not, but it’s just my assumption looking at changes and silence.

I wonder if all those people who volunteer and watch for free would start paying for Viki. Even though I love it here, when I see an interesting looking video of some show online, they usually turn out not to be available here.

I watch shows on Viki because of the accurate subtitles and good timing provided by the volunteers, if they don’t have that anymore I don’t see a reason to pay a subscription.

Never! And that is regardless of whether I am interested in their content or not or how cheap/expensive it will be. If they say goodbye to us, I say goodbye to them.

Also on old projects, one at least 6 months ago…

It’s in the project finder though… check it out.

Was it vikisubteam at first? I bever saw that. It just had no team info at all. There are sub*s in 6 language only. I suspect these were part of the liscense agreement, but I could be wrong. I think if Viki allowed OL then there would be many more language available, including Portuguese, which is notable absent, considering the large community for that language here. It has been 2 months now since that drama premiered here on V. I wonder if any OL have been able to work on Moon Lovers.

That is interesting. I guess we will see if there are any OL teams allowed to work on Prisoner of Beauty. Right now is just the languages that V does themselves.

Yes, when this drama arrived on Viki it was written Vikisubteam and now we can’t see any team. I wonder how was made those subs in OL.

I suspect that V got the other subs as part of the liscense agreement for Moon Lovers.

I’ve seen another project like this one this week. Once on Viki the project was with Vikisubteam and then 10 days after a real CM volunteer was chosen. I don’t understand why the process is like this nowadays.

The only good reason I can think of is that they want to avoid having the subs messed up in the beginning when the interest in the drama is higher. For example, new empty segments waiting to be filled and sometimes even forgotten in some pre-subbed languages (I saw this as CM). So maybe they want to let the viewers have a smooth viewing experience, and when at least half of the drama is out, then they appoint a volunteer CM.

Of course, the fact that there was no communication about it, while this is directly related to the volunteers, is once again a disrespectful action from Viki towards us. But we are already used to not having even the most minimal level of communication.

Later edit: But what is confusing is that they do this only for Chinese series so far. While there are series with even more pre-subbed languages, or even very important titles like the Korean ones.
