We are happy to announce that our next event badge will be in honor of Golden Week in Japan!
To earn the Golden Week Badge, you’ll need to make a minimum of 100 contribution points at any time from Monday, April 28 @ 00:00 UTC – Monday, May 5 @ 11:59:00 UTC.
** Make sure you are contributing during the correct dates by converting UTC to your local time zone here. **
But that’s not all! The top 100 Contributors who make the most total contribution points (segmenting + subtitle/editing) during the Golden Week period will also receive a Top 100 Badge!
Golden Week is one of the most exciting and celebrated holiday periods in Japan, and we can’t wait to share more about its unique traditions and history with you.
Stay tuned for our next post where we’ll explore the holidays that make up Golden Week and why it’s such a special time of year!
@vikicommunity
I would really like to try to get all the golden week badges, but unfortunately the Portuguese language community is limited to only doing the TE and FE of the pre-subbs. Reaching many beds has become an impossible dream for us. Please, for the future, think of a way to include all languages. How about giving us the chance to contribute as subtitlers to earn future badges?
@vikicommunity In short, for the top 100, we would need to have the projects come to us for subtitles. This yields 5 times more subtitles than TE and FE. And Japanese dramas, in addition to being fewer in quantity than Chinese ones, have fewer episodes, and each episode lasts a maximum of 25 to 30 minutes. With the subtitles ready, productivity is even lower. Unless the moderator and his team tamper with the subtitles, which is prohibited here on Viki.
I completely agree with you, Rosemereozv. It’s been so hard for us, Portuguese volunteers, to get a project to work on nowadays that we don’t get a fair chance to win all the badges on the upcoming event.
If so, then it is just as unfair to the English (first presubs were in English, long before any other language), Spanish, and French. And all languages that will follow someday…
Still, there is always the possibility of editing. Those presubs aren’t perfect.
The fact that no one on viki staff has caught this error yet and sent clarification to the volunteer community speaks infinitely about much they care for us participants in the badge quest.
