[Viki Community Team] Lunar New Year Badge 2025!

Our first event badge will be in honor of Lunar New Year. This will be the “Year of the Snake”!

To be eligible for a Lunar New Year “Year of the Snake” badge, you will need to make a minimum of 100 contribution points at any time from Wednesday, January 29 @ 00:00 UTC – to Tuesday, Feb 4 @ 11:59:00 UTC.

** Make sure you are contributing during the correct dates by converting UTC to your local time zone here. **

The top 100 Contributors who make the most total contribution points (segmenting + subtitle/editing) during the Lunar New Year period will also receive a Top 100 badge! :raised_hands:

Here are some fun facts about Lunar New Year:

  • This year, Lunar New Year’s Day falls on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025. Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia and while some traditions are shared, others are unique to each country’s culture. For example in China, the Lunar New Year is called “Spring Festival” and includes putting up lanterns and setting off fireworks to chase away evil spirits.
  • The year 2025 marks the “Year of the Wood Snake”. The snake represents wisdom, intuition, and transformation while the wood element brings growth, stability, and harmony.
  • Those born under the Year of the Snake are said to be clever, deep thinkers, observant, determined, and charming. The best jobs for Snakes utilize their creativity and imagination. Famous people born in the Year of the Snack include Indira Ghandi, John F. Kennedy, and Picasso.
  • The year of the Wood Snake is a perfect time to chase your dreams, embark on new adventures, and balance ambitions with life values. However, adopt a Snake’s nature with awareness and sense of timing by being ready to strike when the time is right to maximize the energy of the year!

You don’t have to register for the other events either. You take part automatically.

Hi, i dont understand, what is “contribution points”? And how do i get them?

This is the point you get when you write a subtitle (as a subber) or work on a segment (as a segmenter)

@vikicommunity the leader board counter isn’t counting my subs, only from 1 day in February… ottoke?

Hi @simi11 - apologies for my delayed reply! Are you still seeing issues with your sub count? We did a quick check and the monthly leaderboard appears to be calculating properly…

Hi Brenda, thanks for replying. I did get the Badge, but at the ending time of the Badge period it showed only 79 subs some days later still same. I feel Im still missing some. I didn’t check with the subcount total in my dashboard. I only noticed the difference on the leaderboard.
I get back to you on Friday, Im off to bed :wink:

@brendas Hi! I believe I’ve made contributions of a couple hundred or more, within the time period. I don’t see the badge in my profile yet. If tabulation is still in progress, no worries and no rush. However, if it has ended, please see if I’ve been overlooked or something else happened. Tyvm. :slight_smile:
