Hi @dudie ! It appears that Life is the only KR drama for segmenting from scratch right now. They gave me a few more titles that are A&C but I have told them our community is desperately wanting more like Life.
Thank you Hopefully there are more projects like Life soon.
I hope so too
Hi @angelzlove1 - There will be Top 25 Contributors from each “bucket” at the end of the event. So there will be a Top 25 from the 2 day “bucket”, a Top 25 from the 3 day “bucket” and so on. This is different from our Subathons where we look at Top Contributors overall.
If you’re aiming to be one of the Top 25 from the 5 day bucket, you’ll want to contribute as much as you can during the 5 days you’re contributing every week. There’s no need to go beyond those 5 days, if that makes sense.
Please let me know if I didn’t understand your question correctly! Thanks!
Hi @brendas, I had written the following in another thread. I’ll copy it in here, maybe you can forward it to the appropriate people.
The problem that segmenters on A&C projects usually have to work a lot but get no credit at all is one we are all aware of. So far, no solution has been found.
I have been thinking about it for some time now and the following idea came to me.
Viki staff use so called “pre-subbing” channels to work on projects before official release. And the NSSA uses training channels to train their students. For both of these things, viewers and those not added have no access. Why can’t this be combined for the Segmenters and also the English team?
When a new drama comes out, there could be a pre-subbing/segging channel for the English team and the segmenters in addition to the channel. The official channel will be normal for the viewers with the release of the episodes. The existing segments and subtitles in English (and French, Spanish, Portuguese) will not be touched. The most impatient viewers will be able to watch the episodes without loss and immediately.
In the Pre-Subbing/Segging Channel, the drama could be uploaded completely without segments and subtitles. The segmenters could do their job normally and then the subbers can translate from original to English. Then the English edit takes place and the episodes are released for the languages.
Now we would have to consider if at this point the episodes are transferred from the pre-subbing/segging channel to the actual channel and the other languages start translating into the respective languages there, or if the translation of the languages should also take place in the pre-subbing/segging channel.
We would still have to consider if the CM can do the transfer of the finished episodes or if that would have to be done in combination with Viki, but we can think about that in detail later.
I think that with this kind of processing advantages could be created for all. The viewers don’t have to wait and the volunteers can work normally, get their credit for it and also the subbers from original language to English will find their justification again.
Maybe this is a good solution to the problem.
Hi @a_hauth_238 - Thank you for copying this over here so it wouldn’t be missed. This idea is quite interesting. I can see you’ve really given some thought to a solution that addresses the needs of both the viewing and this Contributor community. I will forward this on to the team for discussion. Thank you!
So my math is this one as an example:
- I have now 2 projects
- my deadline is 9/2 and 9/3
- I can only contribute on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of September
- makes 3 days a week if the deadlines were to fall on 1st of September I’d have only 1 day in the first week if next deadline is after Sept 7.
This is what I said earlier, that it depends how many projects one has, on the release to OL and the deadlines.
I’m not sure what the idea is to sub like every day 50 segments or even only 25 to gain more days… if available (one part has between 80 and 200 segments approx.)
If my deadline were in 10 days I’d have to skip one week…
Only those who are volunteering for some time understand how it works.
Hi!
Thank you for the explanation
And the one who works 7 days, will he get a 5+2 days badge?
Hi!
Happy hunger games
I think it worked in a sense that I see a lot of new people posting
Yes, every next line says, "It’s been a while since we’ve seen " lol
or 4+ 3 days badges lol but really, why not? if we contributed for 7 days, one week can be 2 and 5 then the next can be 3 and 4.
what about this idea? & of course we’ll post about this in the thread

Hi @simi11 - You’re right. Seg-Suptember won’t be able to adjust for this and like any brand new event we are learning and adjusting - the same process we went through with Subathons. What we’re hoping is that this sole, stand-alone event will make attaining their first event badge more of a reality for those who consistently never reach enough contribution points for a badge despite participating in Subathons season after season. We’ll be back to Subathons in the Winter! Thanks, @simi11
@brendas Can this time we have a list of Top 25 contributors of each bucket? We would like to appreciate their time and efforts put into creating subtitles/segments.
Is the top 3 chosen at the end, like the top 25? Or is it given per bucket per week? (If already asked, i can’t find it)
I have a problem there are so many that i want to like here on “Discussions” and I cant, if liking is a part it feels wrong for me not being abel to like every one (at the moment this page has put me on an 11 hours ban from liking…
Another quick suggestion,
How about telling us Top 10 subtitled languages this time?
