Hi~~ I’m a China graduate student researching fan subtitling practices on Viki especially about the China fantasy.

I noticed your contributions and would love to invite you for a short interview. It can be done via chat, and everything will remain anonymous.

The questions are simple, for example:

  • Why did you start contributing subtitles?
  • How do you translate culturally specific terms?
  • Do you consider audience understanding or feedback when translating?
  • or you can talk about your own experience and feeling about being a translator in Viki…

Looking forward to your reply. Your experience would be incredibly helpful for my research. Thank you so much!

Hi @zahra_mizmiz33_53, I just sent you a private message! ^^
Good evening! :sparkles::purple_heart:

Hi, I’m a Czech copywriter with experience working as a subtitle editor on several series. I’d love to join a team (or even multiple teams) that might need not only a subtitler but also someone for proofreading and text editing. I’d also be interested in becoming a moderator and supporting the team in that role. I offer translation from English to Czech, as well as subtitle proofreading. Thank you! :slightly_smiling_face: Lenka

Hi, I’m looking to help with captioning Korean dramas. Please contact me if you have any projects I can help out with, thank you! :slight_smile:

Hi!! I have already becoming a moderator for 2 series. The problem is, I have been waiting to become a moderator for The Legendary of Kitchen Soldier drama for nearly 2 weeks, since it was in a Channel Manager tab so I didn’t apply for the position yet.

Then, only today I can apply for it but I noticed that my application willl be send to the vikisubteam instead. Means, there are no Channel Manager, but during application there are 90 people who applied for it.

I would like to know if this is normal for a new drama, where they will transfer the position to the suitable person slowly. Or, is it means that it is not opened for subbing?

This is currently the normal situation. There will certainly be a CM when the episodes have been completely aired on Viki.

Ohh… So I need to wait until the drama finished airing? Thank you for answering!

Hi, not certainly. I was a moderator for a drama that was currently airing at the time and was able to add subtitles in my language. Maybe you can try to DM the CM if there are two of them. Hope that helps!

@statiny We’re talking about a K-drama here, and lately, they usually aren’t assigned a team until after they’ve aired. This team has Vikisub as its CM, and jihah2905 has to wait until it gets a CM who isn’t a Viki (staff) account.

@a_hauth_238 Aah, apologies. If that is the case that Viki is the CM then yes, it has to be waited till the k-drama has aired. My mistake. :blush:
