Addicted is actually better… I got to see Addicted before China took a hatchet to the episodes. It was very risque, more so than most Thai dramas. And it actually made sense. Viki had them, then China’s sensorship came over… took the videos back and we had to redo them again with the chopped up crap they gave us.
I also watched it on Viki, but couldn’t watch all episodes. Ws to late
I’m interested in why you like Addicted better? What about it? I had a different experience watching it, so I’m curious what you were noticing that you enjoyed? For me, the vibe of the show was so hostile that I actually ended up hating it-- Stay With Me is less hostile, so I was able to get into. Not that I would die on a hill over this show, Stay With Me is definitely not my favorite or anything. I’m just picking your brain as someone with a different take on it.
Again, you saw the chopped up version of Addicted. AND it is so well-acted with A-list actors (Johnny and Timmy). Also, the drama is the closest to what the writer had written. It was a dark story. Stay With Me is not EVEN close to the correct portrayal of the story. Stay With Me is an idol drama with idol actors, B-rated for sure, wrapped in bubblegum and cotton candy.
What’s your take on the Thai adaptation of Addicted? I haven’t watched it yet, but curious if others think it’s worth the watch. Thanks for keeping this discussion alive. ![]()
“wrapped in bubblegum and cotton candy” Hahaha. Love your intensity! Interesting point about the actors-- I know nothing about the actors. I guess I didn’t notice that part. Yes, I agree that Addicted is darker, which sounds like is closer to the source material. It felt like the two MLs had a healthier relationship in Stay With Me, and I needed that. For me to watch this story, I needed a little bubblegum because it was too dark for my taste otherwise.
Hmm. Didn’t know there was one. I’ll put it in my queue. When I give it a go, if I make it through, I’ll let you know.
