Contrary to what some in this community believe, I think the paid Kor-Eng translators are doing a decent job so I have not been actively volunteering even though some CEs and CMs are still recruiting TEs. However, I do help out privately whenever requested. For those projects I help out, I usually ask to be simply added as an English subber or Korean captioner since I don’t have the desire nor time to work as a TE, nor do I care about getting credit as a contributor. Although I am at the final stage of hiring process to become an intermittent Korean Language Consultant for the U.S. government, I will continue to visit Viki to help out when needed and stay in touch with volunteers such as yourself.

I haven’t seen many shows on Viki recently but I’m guessing people are missing the cultural context that our volunteers added that you might already be familiar with since you’re a native? Also, a part of the community was lost to favor faster subs so people are bound to not be as open to it as they would under normal circumstances. Glad to know you’ll still be around though^^
Looks like I’m going to be captioning from now onwards since I’m not too keen on being an English editor/TE either. Volunteering has always been a way for me to hone my language skills. Right now, I’m enjoying adding captions for Love Revolution and it’s fun to see all the creative ways in which the Eng team has translated all the slang and puns.
Congrats on getting to the final stage!! I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you. Sounds so exciting~~
