Hi everyone,

We’re happy to announce the Year of the Horse Lunar New Year Challenge will be our first badge event of 2026! :horse::sparkles:

To celebrate, the challenge will begin on Tuesday, February 17 (Lunar New Year’s Day and the new moon) and end on Monday, March 9, 2026 (the first full moon).

Earn any of these four (4) Lunar New Year badges by meeting the specific badge criteria:

Badge 1: Participation Badge

Receive a participation badge featuring the horse, alongside allies and a special friend, by making at least 100 contribution points at any time during the challenge period.

Badge 2: Weekly Badge

Earn a weekly badge displaying some of the most recognizable symbols of Lunar New Year celebrations by making at least 100 contribution points that week. Badges change every week, so we encourage you to contribute every week to earn all three! Check the weekly schedule under the “General Guidelines” section below for the specific start and end dates and times for each week.

Badge 3: Event Point Badge

Receive an event badge highlighting the Year of the Fire Horse: in addition to the zodiac animals, the lunar calendar features one of five elements, and this year is fire. The badge you receive will be based on your total contribution points earned from the start to the end of the Lunar New Year challenge. You must reach the minimum number of contribution points to reach any of these point levels: 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 7,500, 10,000 or 15,000. You will be awarded the highest level event badge you are eligible for and all badges leading up to it.

Badge 4: Top 100 Contributors Badge

Aim to earn a Top 100 Contributors badge by making the most contribution points during the Lunar New Year challenge! The Top 100 Contributors will be proportionate to the % of Segmenters and Subtitlers participating in the event.

A dedicated thread will also be posted in Discussions on Monday, February 16, the day before the challenge starts. Use this optional thread to wish good health, happiness, and prosperity for the Lunar New Year, and encourage your fellow Contributors during the challenge by clicking the heart to “like” their posts.

General guidelines:

  • Lunar New Year, Year of the Horse challenge runs from Tuesday, February 17, 2026 12:00 AM UTC–Monday, March 9, 2026 23:59 PM UTC. Convert your local time zone to UTC here.
  • The schedule for the weekly badges is as follows. Each week will start on a Tuesday at 12:00 AM and ends on a Monday at 23:59 PM, UTC time.
  • Contributions can be segments, subtitles, edits, or both.
  • Badges will be awarded 7–10 days after the challenge officially ends on March 9, 2026.
  • No RSVP needed.
