I don’t think she’d be any different.
She was always looking for an excuse to get rid of our main leads.
Her husband was just a very convincing and convenient idea.
Not to mention, if she actually thought about it hard enough, she could’ve realized who actually killed him, because that person (the doctor) was the one present in the apartment when he “fell” off the balcony to his death.
Let’s also not forget about the gym guy (who’s name I don’t remember).
He was the Building Rep’s brother. (He called her Noona several times.) She just didn’t care about him at all, even after his death.
Her loyalty to people only extends far enough to benefit her. If that part ceases to exist, so does her loyalty.
***Blurring spoilers for those who haven’t seen all the eps yet!
Not to mention, she was the one who got him the job in the building in the first place, so, by her logic, every death would be on her hands, since he was someone selling the drugs to everyone.
I’m rewatching episode 2 and there’s that whole scene with the church that got attacked because people took NEXT thinking it was like Advil or something. Actually, this fits with the 7 deadly sins theme we’ve been discussing. There’s also the point where the older Ajumma from floor three was handing out church pamphlets with a friend in the building. Also, the building rep’s husband just happened to be a priest (or pretended to be one, more accurately).
Perhaps religion plays a more important role in this drama than we originally thought.
A LOT of people used religion to explain COVID, just like they did in 2012 and during the whole Y2K crisis. It’s not surprising actually that the theme is popping up more in dramas and movies globally.
I think in DOOM it was more about how we see life and death - especially since she had cancer It became a comentary there on how to just LIVE - just LIVE instead of holding back - that is what I love about the PHS kiss
Sadly life today is almost impossible without it, everything runs on it… even if you live in a cave there isn’t much to hunt and make clothing and growing food is becoming more challenging, you need money for seeds… if you live alone… it’s hard to make it…
Rewatching episode 2, trying to get a grip on Seung Young’s character. He instigated the media frenzy, but other than that I’m trying to figure out his purpose. He seemed to cause more trouble than Bom.
Perhaps he is the depiction of normal people doing crazy things. The saying goes, “Desperate times call for desperate measures.” Though, of all ways they could portray that decision, why have him willingly walk into a refrigeration truck? Truthfully just scanning the building and reporting field observations would be enough of an exclusive for any news media outlet.
Ya know, just things that ya pick up on the second time around.
Catching up on this thread now that I’ve seen the final episode!
I want to see this so badly, SailorMoon! It might end up next on my watch list after I catch up on a couple things.
That’ll PREACH.
That is SUCH a good interpretation. It’s a testament to true unconditional love.
I could DEFINITELY see that. Also, maybe as a statement to those people who didn’t think the pandemic was a big deal, or that people who were freaked out over it were somehow paranoid or in the wrong.
I think his character was, for me, speaking on people who want to profit off drama or tragedy. For a majority of the drama, he was wanting to record EVERYTHING – even after they cut the power and he could no longer upload videos, he was talking about capturing video to make money.
I knew from the first couple episodes that this show was very well-written, but I didn’t realize just how SMART the writers were until I had seen all the episodes. There’s so much nuance that you can pick up on after the final episode, that you more than likely would not have watching for the first time.
Went on a ‘‘spur of the moment trip’’ and was fun and satisfying for my soul.
EVERYONE see dramas differently bc we are all different individuals with different taste in everything. I tend to feel some dramas like [HAPPINESS] [Dark Hole] had so much more potential NOT ONLY in the romance part, but (imo) was a complete mess in the end. I was looking for spoilers with more details in the page, and saw none bc I guess they deleted them by the time I came back. It doesn’t matter bc I still won’t watch such a mess like I did with Dark Hole, and had an empty feeling with the ending. [EVERYONE] see things differently, and [happiness] had so much more potential too, if they had not try to ‘‘grab more than they could chew.’’ If you can, watch DARK HOLE.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8McfIrlEBM so you can see the similarities that leaves the viewers wanting another ending. Supposedly Dark Hole does have a second part in the ‘‘future?’’
I do agree with this comment below regarding the romance in the drama. [Happiness] was almost exactly like [BLACK HOLE] they had zombies, [not a monster but they did had several male monsters, a serial killer! religion (cult), shaman, and TWO wonderful great perfect chemistry FL and ML, but in the end [DH]they didn’t even hugged! I wonder if it was the same writer; in Dark Hole that wrote Happiness, too. The other thing they didn’t had in BH was the pills, but so much similarities in that they ‘‘were like a chicken without a head’’ confused, and going in circles, not knowing where to go. Thank goodness in [Happiness] there is no second part!

]Maybe it’s this particular genre of drama that is the issue, but I realized while watching episode 11 and the leads confess their feelings for one another, that I personally have no feeling for any of the characters. I don’t really care what happens to them. I don’t feel any great love between the ml and fl. It seems more like they are just buddies. I have seen PHS have unbelievable chemistry with his fl and it just doesn’t exist in this show.
“Yet with its clear storytelling, compelling roster of characters across the board and a well-threaded sequence of menacing situations and their resolution distributed evenly throughout its run, all capped off with a strong finale, this zombie-lite success has been one of the year’s most rewarding surprises.”
I appreciate the statement that everyone sees dramas differently and everyone has different tastes.
We can agree to disagree about Happiness then.
I personally thought they leads had great chemistry, the kind that didn’t require outright confessions and a lot of PDA. The focus for the show was on the plot, not the romance, but that’s the kind of dramas I gravitate towards.
You have some good analysis though. We should find a drama we both like and detail the hell out of it!
Thank you so much for your respectful feedback, and I have to agree that we can find other dramas to watch and analyze the hell out of it bc we both like doing that.
Although I’m a softy for romance (depending on the ML/FL chemistry in drama), I also don’t see the need for romance to be in every drama I watch, and especially with such serious themes as ‘‘zombies’’ ‘‘virus’’ etc. Stuff like that need more focus on problem solving, and that’s one thing it lacked bc we never see scientist working there, and discussing about this epidemic that is shutting down the world, and killing so many innocent ppl. in its path.
It left me wondering who ‘‘created’’ this pill and for what purpose. If there was an evil ulterior motive like terrorism from other country and so on. It left so many questions unanswered for me, and the ones that were answered, just make little to no sense at all. I also didn’t watched much from episode 11 and 12 I didn’t see at all, so I don’t know if those questions were answered in those 2 final episodes.
I think the FL should have been the tough cookie that she was, but as a scientist, and leave him as the Police Officer/Detective. The beginning of the drama was so unnecessary bc it was what gave me the idea of a romantic also series, but I just realized he asked her out in the first part, and we see them again as adult with same career but were never together, right? All those years in between: what happened? lol
Hi everyone! I know I’m late to the party, and I feel like every single plothole that was there probably has already been discussed…except one. How did the supermarket girl get infected? She said she took the drug, and then we got a flashback where we saw her apply an ointment to her wound, but that’s it. Before I even saw the flashback, I was skeptical about her answer because people don’t just pop any old pill lying around when you have a wound injury…her using a cream ointment made sense, but the drug was never a cream ointment, so how is she infected from that?
Other than that, I thought it was a great drama. I initially wanted a sad ending for our leads, but once I got to the last episode and Andrew was still MIA for the majority of that, it was so nerve wrecking (I got to the point where I suspected he would jump out of the bedroom of apt 501 or climb the walls of the apt…the suspense was just too much, I lost my senses!) I am actually relieved we got a bright happy ending.
