4. How to find and contact recruiters?
Always contact people to be part of a team.
Check the "Subtitle team" tab on the page of the show you want to contribute on and scroll down:
You will find recruiters’ link via 2 ways:
- Either check the contributors’ wall (the long picture with the team members):
- Either check this:
A “Moderator” (Arabic Moderator, Spanish Moderator…) is a contributor in charge of many things, including recruiting subtitlers for a language Y he’s assigned to on a show. That’s the person to contact if you want to translate or edit in language Y.
Depending on the job and the language you want to do, you will have to contact different people.
I want to:
-
Segment: once you graduate from a segmenting academy, contact the Chief segmenter and/or the Channel Manager.
-
Translate or edit in a language other than English: contact the Moderator of your respective language. If there’s no moderator for the language you’re interested in, contact the Channel Manager.
-
Translate in English: follow what’s written on the long pic. Usually, you contact the Translation Editor and/or the Chief Editor and/or the Channel Manager.
-
Edit in English: follow what’s written on the long pic. Usually, General Editor => Contact Chief Editor and/or Channel Manager. Translation Editor and Chief Editor => Contact Channel Manager.
-
Transcribe in Korean, Chinese, Japanese: contact the Moderator of your respective language. If there’s no moderator for the language you’re interested in, contact the Channel Manager.
If you’re lost, don’t know whether the recruitment is still going on or not for the job you’re interested in, just contact the Channel Manager. He will guide you to the correct party.
To contact people, just click on their link or avatar and .
Without any answer after a week, send again a message to the moderator. Still no answer, contact the channel manager.
Still no answer from nobody, contact Viki Staff:

The show’s title, the role you want (translator…), you want to subtitle from X to Y, your fluency and anything relevant for a recruiter (translating experience, availability…).
Ex of questions I ask when I recruit:
- What is your fluency in both languages?
- Do you have any experience in translating?
- Have you watched already the drama?
- How often can you come? Can you subtitle 1 ep a week or every two weeks for example?
You want to participate in other shows, also ask moderators or channel managers other projects where you could participate in.
